Enjoyed as always guys. I've got a box of these tucked away but I just can't decide whether to smoke them now or take the chance that they will turn out to be amazing down the line. If only I could afford a second box!

I've had four, all from different sources and each one has had an amazing first 6th then completely died on it's arse each time, just dead bland tobacco. I seem to be in the minority but there are a few others who have had the same experience. It's a shame as that first 6th is fantastic but there is obviously some kind of quality control issue with these, same as the Cohiba 1966.

I had 2 of these on release and thought they were fabulous. I've bought a box on the strength of that initial tasting but not yet had another. All the reviews that I have read indicate to me these need a little more time but could become awesome smokes that we would swap our Grannies for in the next few years. On the strength of the two I had, I would agree with those thoughts...

Capt Q - yours is the first comment I've seen to sway my views on them. Rather hoping that you aren't right on either these or the 1966's which I've also got a couple of singles of but not yet tried (on the strength of the reviews that say sit on them for a while).

Another thought on these and also the Hoyo 2011 EL's - I'm convinced these could all do with more time. The Hoyo's were amazing ROTT, the RA Extra's the same for me and I also saw initial great reviews on the 1966's, it's only now that we are a good few months from when they were rolled that views are changing a little - all points to being in that 'sick period' we all tend to see in new-ish sticks. I certainly thought that of the Hoyo SP EL that I had 3-4 weeks back at the JJFox Rum tasting event.

I'm going to try my absolute best to be patient and leave my boxes untouched until they have a minimum of 12 months on them and then revisit... time will tell!

I only know of two other people who had had the same experience as me with the RAE. I'd love to revisit them in a year or so but who knows if stocks are about, I can't really jusitify it to myself to graba box on the off chance of them being great or terrible.

The 1966 I've only had so can't really form too much of an opinion but then again at their price point they should be bang on everytime. I have one 1966 in my humi but I'll probably gift it at some point.

I did really like the Hoyo EL, that showed a lot of promise for the future and was also smoking great right now, but then again it was no different to me than recent Epi #2 production, I guess it depends which vitola you prefer.

It's never about right or wrong with cigars, just comes down to your tastes... and maybe you're not unlucky, maybe the sticks you have tried were either sick or just duff examples? Who knows how good the next ones you try will be until you try 'em...
