Another first for me this weekend - a Partagas Presidente.
I managed to lay my hands on a couple of boxes with SAR ABR11 codes so they are reasonably young cigars.
For those not familiar with this cigar the Presidente is a classified as a figurado with a perfecto shape (think Cuaba) - I believe the actual actial vitola of this cigar is called a Taco.
The dimensions are 6 1/4 inches by a 47 ring gauge but because of the shape it feels like a smaller cigar.
I had no idea what to expect but clipped the end and sparked her up and........ wow.
This was a super enjoyable smoke for me - great even burn, copiuos amounts of rich and tasty smoke, great draw, overall very smooth and tasty.
I can only describe the flavours as classicly Cuban and whilst it didn't have the strength or punch of some Partagas it was extremely rich with plenty of cedar, spice and tobacco notes.
As I said I had no idea what to expect from this cigar but was very pleasantly surprised and will look forward to extensive further testing of this vitola!
It will also be interesting to see how they age, I have a feeling that there is even more depth of flavour to come after a few years in the humi.
Anyone else have thoughts on these or smoked any older ones?
