    ROMEO Y JULIETA NO2

    Size - 129 x 42
    Smoke Time - 1 Hour 5 Mins
    Box of 5 May 2011

Appearance: Comes in a nicely finished white and red tube, the cigar has a nice chocolatey smooth colorado wrapper, with a minimum amount of light veins, with an almost oily looking finish.

Construction: It was looking good, as i always find with this brand, it was firm with some slight sponginess and no tight spots at all. It had a nice straight burn for almost the full length of the cigar apart from the final third were it needed a slight correction, no issues really. It had a good draw with ample amounts of smoke from start to finish and was a good example of a well constructed cigar.

Flavour: Pre-draw, it was giving off some sweet floral and woody flavours, hints of leather and slight notes of nutmeg too.
The first third started off quite smooth, very earthy with lots of leather and nutmeg, every now and then i would get a taste of toasted coffee beans too. Into the second third it was producing a much sweeter flavour than in the first, lots of cedar with some floral notes, which was then slightly overpowered by large amounts of creamy coffee and caramel.
Into the final third the flavours shifted once again, being very similar to the first with lots of leather and nutmeg, however this did not last long as the cigar was producing smooth cocoa and caramel notes which came as a bit of a surprise, but was nice. Now towards the very end of the stick it was becoming stronger and hotter, however it did gave off some wonderful hits of sweet liquorice here and there which was an excellent finish to a good cigar, that i managed to smoke right down to the nub.

Overall: The cigar was a good hour of pleasure, with shifting flavours throughout the whole stick, it had a good even draw from start to finish and produced an ample amount of creamy smoke on each and every puff. It held a good ash which was almost white at times, and was not weak or too strong at any point. I would rate this cigar as a medium bodied smoke, with a nice variety of smooth sweet flavours, with the odd surprise now and then, not too complex, but ideal for a beginner in the cuban cigar world. Note that the RyJ No2 can be a very hit and miss cigar, so expect to get the odd one that is not up to par. Having said this, my humidor always has stock of these and they can be a cracking little cigar that can produce a good hour of smoking pleasure.

    Thank you SmokinE

Excellent review as always buddy, thank you This cigar was my very first venture into the world of Habanos,I should revisit it sometime.I like how,as you said, that it threw the occasional surprise at you.I've learned recently that that's one of the qualities that I really love about Cuban cigars.I had a PSD4 recently that completely sideswiped me with some (new to me) fantastic Digestive biscuit flavours, total surprise and total delight.

My first foray into smoking Cuban cigars too!

Been saving my Tubos that I brought back from the Isle to smoke 1 each year on the anniversary of my first smoke...

My first one was a ryj No2 as well.
A dried out over priced cigar in a nice white tube.
It smoked very well and tasted lovely as well.
Have purchased a lot more since and the tubes are great for safe transport of other cigars as well.
Hit or miss is a true statement.
              Another good review
