RAFAEL GONZALEZ PETIT CORONA
Size - 129 x 42
Smoke Time - 55 Mins
Sampler 2011
Appearance: A milk chocolate (colorado claro) wrapper, with slight light veins here and there, overall a fairly smooth looking finish.

Construction: Quite solidly rolled, with slight resistant to the draw however it did not affect the pull on the cigar at all. The burn was good and even until near the last third, then it had to be corrected as there was a difference of 1cm at one part of the stick. I had no real problems with the cigar and the construction was average throughout the stick.

Flavour: Pre-draw, i detected some mild spicy, slightly nutty flavour with a hint of sweetness attached too.
The first third was quite spicy indeed, and i was tasting lots of nutmeg, there were some creamy sweet flavours of honey and caramel coming through too. I found for a small cigar it was producing a good amount of smoke and was filling the room with powerful sweet aromatic scents.
Into the second third, started very similar to the first, but eventually changed and i was tasting much more caramel with some strong notes of creamy coffee too. To the final third, it was still producing notes of caramel, nutmeg and coffee, but towards the last inch it started to slow down and i was getting more of a strong tobacco and bitterness taste. This resulted in me not being able to smoke the stick right down to the nub, and i let it die out with 3/4 of an inch left.

Overall: Overall i found this cigar smoked well, held a semi solid greyish ash and had some good flavours, but was not overly complex really. I would rate this as a medium bodied smoke, which was pleasant until the last inch or so which then became a little too harsh for my liking. However it produced lots of smoke and left a very sweet aromatic scent in the room which was absolutely delightful.
With some age this cigar may improve a little, but it's not a cigar i would go out and buy a box of, maybe just a few singles now and then when i feel like a cigar that's a little more simple.
Thank you SmokinE
