ROMEO Y JULIETA CORONITAS EN CEDRO

    Size - 129 x 40
    Smoke Time - 1 Hour
    Box of 25 June 2011

Appearance: Nice and slender with a light chocolate brown wrapper, only the odd small vein. As with most from this brand, it was a very smooth looking stick with a very nice finish indeed, this being typical of Romeo y Julieta cigars in general.

Construction: With not much pressure applied it had quite some sponginess to it, as though it was over humidified, however this did not affect this cigar at all. It had a nice straight burn from start to finish, with no corrections needed, a nice smooth draw with no relights required, a well constructed cigar.

Flavour: Pre-draw it gave me some nice delicate flavours of leather and wood and hints of sweet hay, i was sensing something smooth and soothing once lit. It was a nice sweet start to the first third, the stick had very earthy flavours and heavy tones of leather and sweet wood, i could also taste a little coffee coming through, right away the word "smooth" came to mind. Into the second very similar flavours as in the first, however in addition i was getting an amazing amount of creamy coffee. It tasted very similar to the Cohiba Siglo II i had recently, and if you did'nt know any better it could have passed as a Cohiba in the second third. It was so tasty i was getting a little tingle on the tongue, that's because i was enjoying the flavours so much i was smoking a little faster. The final third was still delivering creamy coffee, however it was tailing off and i was getting lots of nutmeg coming through. The biggest surprise came right near the end of the stick, when i got a slight flavour of cardamom and then lots and lots of liquorice, it was so pleasant and a nice sweet finish to the smoke.

Overall: I found this cigar to be an excellent 1 hour smoke indeed, it had a nice clean draw from start to finish and produced lots of creamy white smoke. It held a steady greyish/white ash and gave me a good variety of flavours. It was not to weak nor to strong and i would say it was a pleasant smooth medium bodied cigar and one i could smoke on a regular basis.
I will always hold more than a handful of these in my humidor, as they smoke just as good as they look...

    Thank you SmokinE

ANother good review, I always think of these as modern RYJs, I will have to have a look at the range and pick up a few packs. How does the strength and taste compare to a ryj No2. I have always liked the ryjs, my PCs are nearly finished and might get these instead of the No2.

It's really tough to judge because a good no2 on the day is up there with the best of the PC, i would say they are very similar in taste, but i find the coronitas edges it for me, only because i find there a lil more consistent on the construction side of things. If you like the no2 i see you loving the coronitas, so try maybe 5 of each and see how you go from there...

Another very good review, thank you for sharing your thoughts.Like Reaver,I very rarely visit The RyJ line these days, without there being any conscious reason why.I do remember though a wonderful Exhibition No 4 I had a few years ago.

Excellent review, I have to say I rarely smoke R&J these days although I smoked plently when I started smoking. Guess they have fallen out of favour, only the SC rank for me, even though the Churchill was my first.

R and J lost their distinct profile years ago. It is a shocker. Smoke a 90's stick and you will understand. It is a real shame. Like Monte's they suffer from huge production volume but being a lower priced stick seem to suffer from some criminal under-stuffing sometimes.
