Finally had time to watch the review tonight guys as always a pleasure to watch very entertaining. Glad you enjoyed the sticks, cheeky sods eh did i switch the labels ha ha nope they are the real deal chaps although they were bought as singles i bought 3 but the shop did have a few sticks left last time i was in maybe i'll get them to hold onto them for me. Ive not smoked mine yet im thinking of firing it up on friday and will be putting it through its paces with my review in comparison to both your viewpoints.
Once again great review guys great honesty and great entertainment

Ha - your attempt to flush out any Hoyo P LE's lurking out there in forum land has worked. These are the stars of my humidor (ooh Born Slippy - nice), one of only 2 untouched boxes, and the best lookers in my "collection" :

They just look so good lying there untouched, holding on to all their potential. Even if they won't last 15 years, my betting is they will continue to develop complexity perhaps at the expense of intensity, over time.

I was a party to a box split the moment these came out and have also had a few singles over the years from CGars. They were easily the best young Cuban I've ever smoked, even smoking them within the month of the box code, but that initail oomph faded over the first couple of years and I haven't tried one for 5 years or so.

My recollection is that they bore a strong similarity to the Hoyo Petit Robustos when those first came out, but I've no idea how those have aged or changed over time, as they didn't manage to hang around in my humi for long.

EDIT found this whilst on the cigar auction thread: http://www.cigarauctions.co.uk/hoyo-...s-p-10176.html

How do you reckon they compare now to when you smoked your boxes, in rough overall enjoyment terms?

And any idea how the new LE's compare?

I reckon with those dark oily skins, they got to have enough oomph to last 20 odd years., not that I think I'll be able to keep mine another 12 years.

BTW Mitch has a couple of boxes in his forthcoming auction - guide: ?550-650.

I personally think they were better when younger, but I suppose it's all to do with how they've been stored etc.
I really appreciate Mackem sending us these to revisit them ( cheers again bud) and they were fine Cigars but just a lot different to what I remember ... pretty complex now.
The chocolate / cocoa ness has wained and ..... Different !
I haven't yet tried the new Hoyo EL
so can't comment, hopefully soon though
