  • Punch Petit Coronations Tubo

I was just going to post this in the "What are you smoking today" section but then ended up taking a couple of pics so thought I would ramble on for a bit.

It's been a lovely day so far here, probably nicer than any day we've had during our abysmal summer. I didn't have a cigar with me but didn't want to waste the opportunity to have a smoke in the sun so took a trip to the nearby Asda on the slim chance that they might have anything. I couldn't believe my luck when I found that they had started selling Upmann and Punch tubos! Back when I was first getting into cigars and only buying the odd tubo the Punch Petit Coronations were my favourite however I quickly moved on to other things and haven't had one since, in fact I haven't had a Punch since.

I found a couple of nice spots around the beach/harbour and inspected the stick, the wrapper was a little dry but on giving it a squeeze found it had plenty of give. The opening was woody and nutty, these flavours would carry on pretty consistently throughout the stick. There was also quite a bit of mouth spice but it's possible that this was due to the first couple of cm burning quite quickly. As the cigar settled down the spice went and a dark, molasses like sweetness joined in. I would have said the cigar was medium bodied for the most part, approaching the end things got to be medium-full and hints of cocoa and coffee were coming through in the background.

All in all I couldn't have asked for much more from a stick this size bought from a supermarket. It tasted very much like I remembered and it made me wonder why I stopped smoking them and never ventured to try anything else from the Punch line. I'd be interested to hear what fellow BOTL think about Punch in general and what the best of the line are.

I'm glad I took that chance when I did, it's all cloudy now and will probably remain that way until the middle of next year when we get another two days of sunshine

I've had a few petit coronations, including one from asda, and enjoyed them. The coronation itself Is a nice smoke too.

Nice pics, we had similar weather, but the view wasn't a touch on that!
