I've received an e-mail from FedEx .... or

someone pretending to be FedEx.

The header is telling me there is a package waiting at their depot and there is an attachment, supposidly with the details etc. But, when I go to open it, my computer is tagging it as containing a virus, so I'm not opening it.

I'm not expecting any package mail at the moment.

I think it's some sort of junk-mail, but just to be sure, does anyone claim responsibility?

It has virus written all over it. Since when do FedEx email with .exe files?

i got a similar email but my one was from DHL apparently, when i opened it, it wanted me to install and app so i could see the 'delivery note' - sod that i said, id rather claim the gold this kind nigerian man is offering me in a differrent email

Fake dude! Bin it asap (unless you're expecting something via Fedex that is?!?!)...I got them all the time when I was with Pipex

My Mrs also got a a similar email from DHL the other day, she opened it on her iPhone but couldn't do anything with the attachment so asked me to open it with my laptop. I looked at the email on her iPhone and it look formal but on closer inspection it was sent to about 6 other very similar email addresses for the one package. Just delete it or if you can flag as spam/phish/virus with your email provider. No lucky packages for you i'm afraid.

I reckon the best bet is to delte all traces of the email and phone fedex and see what they have to say

Tippexx it's fake, I got one the same a month or to ago and found out it originated in Nigeria! Bin it!!!!!

Hey,

I got a tip for you, it's an instructional on how to trace where it is from. Very useful and normally works. Of-course if you can't be bothered just delete it, nevertheless, if you want to be sure it's a good tip.

Of course, the big question... how would they have your email address anyway.

They do, however, have your postal address (as it is presumably the delivery address), hence they'd only ever leave a note through the letterbox, not an email.
