Budgie Smuggler mine received in tip-top condition, thank you. I am about to set sail for the Indes aboard it... it's a beast!
It's darker (and better filled) than the Hoyo de San Juan's I've had to date... but smell wise might it be too 'full' for a hoyo... got two distinct other thoughts in my noggin but will keep my own counsel for now...
"Dear heart, you're talking to a man- a real man- who drinks straight Tequilla, with lime and salt on the rim, and smokes cigars" (J Zavala)
Finally found the time for this cigar. Great flavours from the start. The cap on mine was poorly constructed though and despite being in my humidor for two weeks, it still sounds brittle when I rolled it between my fingers...
So far, great cigar though. I would guess it's a Bolivar... 😊
I Wanted to end my holiday with the COTM and paired it with a few Old fashioned cocktail..
The cigar it self was in great condition when I received it and even when I was about to smoke it...a little spring up when you gently press the cigar.
Had to say the cigar felt the right size my hand not to big as you first think.
I used a 7mm punch I think.. just needed the one hole, draw seemed fine to me and the cold draw I could make out flavours of strong tobacco mixed with coffee and Coco.
The first third was great a slight spice on the lips of pepper I think with lots of roasted coffee and very rich Coco with cedar mixed in the transition to the 2rd third the pepper mellowed out and transitioned in to a nutty nutmeg almond flavour. With out drawing to hard tons of cool smoke comes from each draw however there was an uneven burn...not sure if that was the cigar its self or due to the punch? Happened to me a day earlier but rectified it self.
This time I had to touch it up as you can see in the photo it needed it.
The final third was fantastic. All the flavours coming together the peppery spice getting ever stronger mixed o n with a stronger woody tobacco flavour and the ever lasting roasted coffee ever present.
I nubbed it down untill I couldn't hold it anymore...was a lovely cigar
Cheers Chris....only my second COTM and i really enjoyed it...thanks for sorting it out.
Smoked mine yesterday. Young cigar. Beautifully made. Unassuming start that smowballed in to a powerhouse of flavour and strength. Best flavour I had was hazelnut. I foolishly had it on an empty stomach & it put me to bed at 8pm [emoji39][emoji42]
I thought the same about the wrapper on mine. Uh-oh this feels way too dry but was unfounded when it came to smoking was perfectly fine.
Shamz I very much agree on the flavours, at least the dominant ones. I think I said I could get wet mud as well. I had possibly had a couple of whisky before hand tho lol
Was some time ago I smoked mine but said definitely box worthy but also slightly young. With a start like that would develop great I reckon
