I'll be making the draw on Sunday so if anyone hasn't signed up yet and wants to get involved add your name to the list before then

If we don't get 32 people how would everyone like to do it? I have thought of three options:

1. Only draw the top ranked teams (according to the Fifa standings). If none of those win the person who drew the best performing team wins
2. We put all 32 nations in the hat and the first 19 (at the moment) are our teams, again, if another team wins the best performing draw wins
3. Some of use have two team, and have to stake two cigars

What are everyone's thoughts? Obviously we'd have to define best performing if we go with that option

I'm happy to go for two teams if that helps. Second choice would be draw from the highest ranked teams, the chances of those ranked below 20 winning are tiny. If that does happen we would revert to best performance.
Like I say if there are two teams available I'll take two.

I would suggest going with the rankings. If no one wins there will always be 2nd 3rd and 4th to consider.

Right the draw has been made - I drew the top 20 teams based on the latest Fifa standings (http://www.fifa.com/worldranking/rankingtable/), the only team in the top 20 that didn't qualify were Ukraine, which is why Bosnia and Herz. sneaked in

Once the world cup is over I'll get the winner to PM me their address and I'll then send it out to everyone else for them to send on their cigars on (remember everyone sends the winner a cigar). I think the winner should also send one through to the runner up - just as a consolation prize.

In the unlikely event that a team outside of those below win the world cup the winner will be based on the best performing team (basically the team that progresses furthest, if that is still a draw then we will do goal difference, then goals scored, and if even that is even we'll just call it a draw! )

If anyone is organising one of these in the future there is actually an online version which random selects team, but that wouldn't let me only selected the top 20 ranked teams unfortunately so I had to do it manually
