Normally I agree with you - I find it just gets in the way of the Premier League, but I do think there is something special about the World Cup, its still the top competition as far as I'm concerned

+1, the something special the World Cup holds extends far beyond anything else for me.... I reckon it's bigger than the Olympics.

Basically we each draw one of the teams playing at the World Cup, and whoever draws the team who ultimately wins it gets a cigar from everyone who entered

The point is that each team in the tournament will be in the draw - even if they're unlikely to win - part of the fun is that some people will get no hopers
USA and Japan can always shock people. Japan has a couple game changing players and the USA has a very capable and unpredictable manager in Jurgen Kinsman

Anyone could win it - just look at Greece winning Euro 2004, on paper they should have just been there to make up the numbers, but proved everyone wrong
