Interesting smokes. I've not seen cello on many cubans before.

There are quite a few of the Belvederes size and smaller that are in cello most are pre 2000

Pandyboy, Many Cubans cigars used to be available in cello (yes even Cohibas!), it started being used shortly after the invention of cellophane. It's widely believed to aid retianing flavouring when aging & I personnaly believe this is true, having tried a fair few old sticks, some ofht emost flaoursome where clelo wrapped. The question is, as cheap product & with generally accepted benefit, why did they stop using it on the premuim smokes? I doubt it was cost, probably more about presentation & thinking they looked more exclusive/expensive without it. Another ideas?

"Whitman's candy company initiated use of cellophane for candy wrapping in the United States in 1912 for their Whitman's Sampler. They remained the largest user of imported cellophane from France until nearly 1924, when DuPont built the first cellophane manufacturing plant in the US. Cellophane saw limited sales in the US at first since while it was waterproof, it was not moisture proof?it held water but was permeable to water vapor. This meant that it was unsuited to packaging products that required moisture proofing."
"Cellophane is the most popular material for manufacturing cigar packaging; its permeability to moisture makes cellophane the perfect product for this application as cigars must be allowed to "breathe" while in storage". Extracts from Wikipedia. for cigars!

Are cigar boxes breathable or should they be opened slightly before storing ?

Wooden ones will breath to some degree, re-opening them a crack... I'm sure someone with experience will be along to advise, me though I would leave them closed personally.
