  • I've been BomBelux'd!

Postie turned up this morning bearing a parcel, (bearing almost everything else she was too in the sunshine).

Was only expecting bills today, so it came as a very welcome surprise, and what a generous surprise too. Sent by Mr Simon_Bolivar .... though I knew that, 'cos there's no mistaking Si's handwriting.

In the parcel, from left to right:-
2009 RE Bolivar Fabulosos Benelux (Edmundo)
2011 RE LGC Belux No 1 (Genios)
RG Slenderellas (Panetelas Largos) ... discontinued 06, but knowing Simon most likely older.

The RE bands are interesting, Benelux on the Boli, Belux on the LGC .... wonder if Habanos will keep to Belux for future releases?

Si's asked for Reviews, the RG I'll look forward to doing this year, the REs I think might be better smoked next year.

Great gift from a great BOTL,

Much appreciated Si .... now, nail-up yer letterbox matey!

Unusual for LGC, they don't usually give a toss about looks, they're all about the taste!

I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

You're right Stevie. Looks like the Netherlands decided to go on their own. However both Benelux and Belux are are CubaCigar when it comes to the importer... Who knows what the marketing gimmicks behind it. Maybe they saw that the Netherlands had enough interest in Cigars so that they could have their own "release".

Personally I don't see this lasting, unless they have particulary limited number of boxes to release. As a commercial area Benilux is small enough, I think these LGC will be around quite a while as there is such a limited population buying them. The German RE tend to disappear with a year to two but Mr Frank still has a range of prev issued Benilux RE 4yrs+.

The Cigar store I was at while in Amsterdam had plenty of the RE's hanging about. You're probably right Simon. I don't think they're shifting in any large kind of numbers.

@ Simon: The German JL seems to have disappeared within a few weeks!! Very popular it seems. The Boli 109 is also finished but the skinny Boli is still on the go....

The 109 is an excellent smoke! The Skinny is god too but a tad expensive, that with the slim vitola probably put some off. There's definately a bigger cigar buying contingent in Germany, you can actually see people smoking premium cigars in the cafes & bars, hardly ever see them in Belgium.

I remember you saying the skinny is a great smoke so I've taken the plunge and I have a box on the way
                              I'll probably box-split as they're a tad expensive....watch this space!!
