And 'posting first' proves nothing, unless the swappee waits for them to arrive before sending theirs, in which case refer to the previous post where all the fun and gamble is removed from the swap.

I disagree (sorry)

Firstly. It 'PROVES' that the 'knewbee' actually OWNS some cigars. (Unlike previous players: i.e. Berry, Danny, etc).
Secondly. It prevents them from reneging on their end of the arrangement (unlike. previous players..etc, etc).
(It would also stop them from recycling some of the cigars they recieve and keeping the rest (See above)

Obviously, it also means that the recipient has them 'in-hand' prior to sending their 'bomb'... and 'yes'.. it may take away some of the fun (assuming, some of you guys consider getting 'screwed over' fun?), however, as it only applies to 'first-time' players, very few swaps would be affected.

I'd rather something like the above was adopted, (simple, reliable and easy to monitor), than put a whole load of rules and regulations in place. But that's just me.

Either way, I just hope the next 'Cigar Pass' is run by someone who takes ownership and manages it more intelligently!

Guys, in a way I have to agree with El Cat...

It is not the forums owner or mods to stipulate the rules on how a cigar pass should work..

I suggest that who ever organises the Pass then they them selves take charge of the rulings and how they want to run it, as is done in competitions run by members.

In all seriousness it's such a shame this has happened, the swaps I've been part of have been very positive experiences. I've enjoyed being a member of this forum so much because of how nice and genuine (...and mad) it's members display themselves to be. The approaching christmas period would be a great time to partake in a few swaps but events like this do make you hesitate.
