      Shame it's come to this.

Perhaps an alternative solution would be that any 'Knewbee' (or first time player) post their cigars out FIRST - that way.. if the recipient fails to recieve them.. no real harm done.
(Would need to ensure that knewbees not be paired up though)

      • this way, the joy or guessing what you will receive while sending out will be lost, I think common sense is that if you are sending to a newbie, don't send boxes of behikes.

I actually think doubling the requirement for 1 or 2 or both would be fair

Also, I think feedback scores for every swap should be mandatory (or at least actively encouraged).

            • Newbie Regulations

I think it's simple what you should do for the case of newbies. I think it's fair, I mean - I'm a newbie
and I'd be quite happy to post some cigars first because It's not like any of you are jerks and would run
off with cigars when you have hundreds in some case, thousands of posts and a trading record.

              Regulations

              - Everybody who participates in the bomb, gets their forum name added to a simple excel table - In which, the person with the least
number of forum posts in which case, the newbie - Would have to take one photo showing the cigars in a packet / envelope to be sent - Only when the first person has recieved
their bomb from the newbie can everybody start ... almost a starter i.e. If the newbie wants to join, the catch is - they go first and they don't get bombed until the person
              they're bombing has received theirs.

              - There should not have to be any rules regarding post amount or donation paid, simply that the newbie posts theirs first so the rest of you
can be assured that he's not, what some might call " a cigar stealing moron, ".

              - Trust situation: An idea if you can find out if a newbie is to be trusted would be to simply post them a robusto or cigar of un-named price and stature
that, they would then post back to you ... Obviously, if they aren't trustworthy - they'll keep the cigar and be done with the forums, if they are however..
they'll send the packet / envelope straight back to you without so much as opening it.

                1) So how does a photo of an envelope prove anything?

                2) Why not? Surely it's fair to ask that someone invest some time and effort in the forum before benefitting from it? And 'posting first' proves nothing, unless the swappee waits for them to arrive before sending theirs, in which case refer to the previous post where all the fun and gamble is removed from the swap.

                3) So they send the one cigar back, of course they do as it makes sense to send the one cigar back in the hope of 4/5/6+ in the event of the actual swap, that jsut makes financial sense to any even remotely clever con artist out there.

Sorry fella but those 'regulations' are completely meaningless whereas time and effort in this forum at least have some meaning and some sense of 'loss' for the potential con artist in throwing away that time and effort, so my vote goes with the post and time counts even if, being a relative newbie myself, this excludes me from swaps/passes etc for the time being.

                • Interesting idea but I feel doing all that takes away the very essence of what a pass/bomb is.

Up until recently it is the goodwill and wanting to genuinely give pleasure to others through a surprise which makes stick a stick and bombs good.

By making it a military operation, it is losing the very thing that makes running them fun.

Personally I think the swapping should be laid to rest for a while, people who are genuinely interested in contributing to the forum will still be here in a few months time.

                    Hear hear and all that.

Plus, as I have done, this doesn't stop you making friends on the forum and arranging one to one swaps and the like via PM, these can also be of the surprise variety, maybe with simeple agreements on the general number of sticks and so on and can be just as rewarding without all the hassles and frustrations some users have experienced with the recent swaps.

I don't care particularly about being in the first swap or bomb going, I'm just sick of " shitty injustices, " like this.
All this talk, lets do this, lets do that, lalala - let's prance around like politicians and have a 4 year debate on how
to get something done. No, let's not do that as we'd all be bloody idiots.

Simple Answer: Let the owner of the forums decide the best way to do this, His word is final as he is the one who is
ultimately responsible for everything that goes on here. This way, we can eliminate our sub verdicts and just get it done.

Also, seriously, I don't think we can hold Deano responsible for the actions of anyone, let alone everyone, on a public forum!
