  • Seeeeeeth. Another 'plugged' Divinos

I will admit, get a good one and I love this cigar. But from a 25 box I have to be honest a good 30% have been tight and difficult to smoke or so badly plugged they've been given-up on well before the end.

Last nights example however took the biscuit. Plugs mostly occur at the foot, and with something pointy and a little dexterity you can get some sort of smoking enjoyment. However this little bastard was plugged just about everywhere, and a first gentle massage with a crochet needle was getting me nowhere. A second poke from the foot to the head resulted in a swell and then a burst through at the head and me swearing and chucking the thing the entire length of the garden at around 12.30 last night. Now I will admit to a litre or so of Berra Moretti last night, but that doesn't plug cigars, and I needed to sacrifice a Monte 5 to get me over the whole episode.

    Grrrrrrrrrrr. Seeth over!

Does anyone actually have one of those poker tool things and do they work?

I never hear anything good about the construction of Cuabas. If they tasted amazing then it might be worth putting up with the strike rate, but when I can get better tasting cigars with better construction I just can't see me ever investing in them. Maybe I need to have a couple of really good ones so I can understand why some people keep coming back to this brand.

They can be really good. I have some original release salamones that are great. Also the 08 limitada has become a really nice stick. But plugged is plugged

        ....i just said but plugged

Oh yeah, I forgot about the 08 EL, I actually have a full box of those at the bottom of a tupperware container somewhere!

          Haha, but plugged......

What a shame Tipp as I love these too. The Traditionales are a tasty stick also IMO. I must say I've never had the bad luck you have, but appreciate your frustration. Bugger.

Perhaps give them some time and they'll come good. It might also be worth using a 'poker' of sorts, leave it in the cigar for a few days in the humi before smoking. The thing with poking just before lighting is that any 'lumps' of excess leaf will swell with burning due to the moisture content and hey presto, burstamundo as you've experienced. A friggin nuisance : (

Well there's only me done that Puffy. What do you mean by having a giggle? Is it that the advice offered is considered poor?

                    Jesus! if the cap fits... no all joking apart, with 1/2 a million posts, I would have thought you would have read what Tipp said;

"gentle massage with a crochet needle"

"something pointy and a little dexterity"

                    ...and you replied with..

"It might also be worth using a 'poker' of sorts"

                    & I shan't speak for Tipp ('cos he's far smarter than me...ish! )

but I believe he dry boxes most of his smokes......

AND I try not to make personal attacks so I apologise if you think this was directed at you....

Yeah, they work well most of the time. The trick is not to go through the entire stick; only go through the plugged portion - CLICK ME!
