Hope this doesn't sound terrible but i must have a drink to really enjoy my cigar. A nice coffee in the morning or later with a single malt, red wine, white wine, champagne, brandy, port, rum, beer...Problem? Me?

I more often than not when the weather is good head straight to the patio on getting home from work, light up a stick and enjoy a good coffee or cold lager.
Most other times I indulge while socialising in the beer garden of the local with a few friends.

I always prefer an alcoholic drink to be at hand: Belgium beer, claret or Irish whiskey by choice. I occasionally flick at a newspaper but generally I just like to sit back concentrate on the cigar & people watch. When smoking down in the Cafe on a sunny afternoon, watching the world come & go is enough entertainment for me. Reading a book or playing chess is generally to distracting from the cigar. I find that if I pick up the local paper in the cafe & catch myself actually trying to read it, the cigar has been below par & not held my interest. Just concentrating on the cigar, for the whole of it's length, is a discipline I wonder if the younger smokers will ever achieve? As the thought of going 30 mins without using their mobile, i Pod, games machine or other electronic stimuli seems too much, let alone 2hrs for a larger smoke.Simon Bolivar: Liberator of Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru & Venezuela.

btw, as simon pointed out, when i have a cigar, it's only ever about the cigar!!! i'm not an 'oblivious' smoker, i like to concentrate on the flavours and the overall experience!!! i find that even walking the dog or alone is too distracting for me to fully appreciate a fine cuban!!! generally, i have a cigar late in the evening whilst sitting in the back garden....... during sunset mostly, sometimes later, and sit and reflect on the day's/ week's events!!! as for alcohol, i rarely drink lager or beer when smoking a cigar, but when i do, it's usually only guinness, hoegaarden, leffe or newcastle brown ale!!! spirits..... only ever irish whiskey, cognac, havana club rum, southern comfort, red wine (mainly shiraz), champagne, cava, proscetto..... it really depends on the cigar!!!
btw, i thinks this guy sums things up pretty well:

'Yep.. me too'
All of the *above.
Preferably whilst swinging in a hammock or reclining on a sun bed (or as near 'horizontal' as circumstances allow).
*Can I swap the 'port' for a Mojito or Margarita?Originally posted by DRAGMASTEREvery time I sleep with a girl I smoke a cigar while we do it. It's exciting and makes you feel strong, manly and empowered.

I just like to chill out and as TJ says, concentrate on the cigar I am smoking. I do usually like a drink of something to accompany my cigar though, can be anything from tea to Champers depending on the mood I am in."Keep your eyes peeled, your arse up, head down, and your ear to the gound" WHISKY77

Like almost everybody else it seems, I like to use smoking time to relax and pretty think of nothing else but the cigar I have.
I usually smoke in my garden, and I even find myself getting annoyed when my girlfriend asks me to give her a hand to carry some shopping in or fill up a watering can!! Even a two-minute task seems to break my 'concentration' and takes me away from my little 'cigar world' !!!

I sit in my garden to smoke a cigar (if it isn't raining), i look around between puffs and take in the beautiful scenery.. (ok so my gardens a mess at the moment, i just imagine i am somewhere nice), then i listen to the birds singing and i wonder to myself if they knew how to smoke cigars which one would they like. Much time is passed deliberating which brand of cigar the magpie sitting in the tree would like.

Its all about bein outside for me (the fact that my girl friend forbids smoking inside honestly has nothing 2do with it).I've just come in after an hour of sitting under a big umbrella listening to the rain, smoking a nub and drinking a large spice rum.if you could see the smile on my face!Ron White Quotes
I've got a great cigar collection - it's actually not a collection, because that would imply I wasn't going to smoke every last one of 'em.

I'd say I like to sit alone with the cigar and music and the sun and contemplate on it, but to be honest I find these days that the more I focus on the cigar the more the experience is ruined.
I love a cigar on the side, maybe if I'm playing guitar I'll have one that I don't mind relighting.
I love paperwork cigars. I'm a lazy bastard but I will happily do hours of paperwork if it's accompanied by a cigar.
I think, like good music, you shouldn't focus on the cigar too much. Very often the more you stare at your cigar or dream up its flavours, the less you are actually experiencing the moment or letting it be purely about stimulation of the senses. I have found a great place for non-cubans as a reaction to this. Paperwork cigars may well be my most enjoyable type of cigar at the moment - a cigar that isn't too good.
However, when I am in the mood for complete solace and have the money to splash out on a good cuban... I'll wack an album on or a symphony, sit in a reclined position in the sun with a beer or a rum/scotch - and that's cigar heaven.
