Well for one, there was no Cohiba Pyramids 2005 EL. They were 2006. Other than that, it's very hard to tell :-/

Very hard indeed...apart from the obvious stuff like wrong years (Sublimes were 2004 not 2005) on some of the ELs they look very good (well, on my small iphone screen they do)

Damn those guys must be making as many fakes as genuine stogies in Cuba , and these are the easy to spot ones.

correct me if i'm wrong, but aren't the cohiba pyramids the usual suspects fund in the 'glass top' boxes?

oh, and the white squares (above cohiba) on the bands are different, one has 3 squares, the other has 2 squares!!!

mind you, the montes do look sweet, even the box looks fab!!!

I've also seen fake esplendidos in a glass top. My neighbour's workmate brought them back from Cuba to re-sell but I broke the news that they were fakes....really bad fakes too

The bands are all over the place. None of them seem to line up with the ones either side of them.
Lo there do I see my Father. Lo there do I see my Mother, and my Sisters and my Brothers. Lo there do I see the line of my people, back to the beginning. Lo they do call to me. They bid me take my place among them, in the halls of Valhalla where the brave may live forever.

Being a complete novice and not really knowing how to tell the difference between a fake and a real cigar what should I look for?

Am I likely to get fakes passed off as the real deal in shops in Cuba when I go later in the year?

I've never been to Cuba but the advice from a lot of the lads here on the forum is to only buy from registered shops and factories and to never buy from street vendors who's "wife/uncle/sister/nephew/pet dog works in the Partagas factory and these cigars are genuine senor"
