  • Holy Grail

I like scouring the Earth for older LEs, REs and just stuff thats hard to find these days. Its part of the enjoyment to me, especially when I get my hands on something rare or unusual.

I call my most wanted "Grails" as I am on a quest to obtain these, yet have never tried them. Blind faith. I have been fortunate to obtain some of my "Grails" and then they get scored off the list.

    Current Grails include but not limited to;

    - Edmundo Dante Conde 109
    - Vintage Cuban Davidoffs/Dunhills
    - ERDM Vikingos RE

Are there many others who do this? If so whats top of your list?

Not at the stage of building up that kind of list yet.

Which ones, that you've managed to find, have either disappointed or really been the hit that you expected?

How about the Punch Ninfas? Now where you can get one to compare it to the Upmann.

After ticking the vintage Dunhills, book cigars and Edmundo Dantes off the list I am left with the following, as mentioned in another thread.

                Hoyo de Monterrey Maravillas
                Hoyo de Monterrey Monterrey
                Cohiba A
                Cohiba Behike
                Partagas Fabulosos
                Montecristo B

Whilst the vintage Dunhills, be they Dunhill Seleccion Suprema of the brands we know or Dunhill own brands like Don Candido are reliably great smoke, I have not found the love of vintage the old Davidoff. I am far, far less experienced on them so do not speak with a voice of authority.

I am dubious about Cohiba in general as they only Cohiba I have loved was a pre-production Gran Reserva. I am almost unique in my reliable disappointing of the BHK 52-56, Sublime, DC, Pyrmaid, Maduro and regular range, just not to my palette I guess. For that reason I suspect I will never get to try the A and genuine Behike as I have paid lots of rare Cohiba before and been invariably let down.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

ERMD Elegentes, Mitch had some at the last Auction but they had the Davidoff name on them & I suspected they would go way out of my reach. Annoyingly, if I had been there I could have afforded to snap it up for but of course you never know how far the actual winner would have kept bidding.
Gotta make that auction one day...
                    Here's a Punch Nifas I tried earlier.
