    +++1 that Monkeyman.

I have been very chilly on the terrace at Boisdale at this time of year, but had to ask 10 Manc to turn the heaters down because I was gently toasting!

Oh, um, got to be careful what I say here. I made many friends and smoked many cigars there back in the day when it was the La Casa for the UK. With the smoking ban it changed but I still frequented. Now it has changed utterly and a lot of the old regulars have moved on. It is not the worst place in London to smoke by a mile, but not the best. You cannot drink booze in the sampling lounge for legal reasons and can only smoke what you buy there, FYI.

Okay, time for a brief recap of where to smoke in London.

            Places that are okay:

J.J. Fox. Large selection of stock, have an upstairs smoking room which is one of the offices cleared out and with filter coffee or water to hand. They have talked of having it all done up nicely for a while but nothing has happened as of my last visit well before Xmas. You smoke what you buy there. You can also smoke in the shop but that can get bothersome.

La Casa, Wardour Street, Soho. Covered that already.

Stafford Hotel – America Bar. Bring your own or whatever, just outside seating at a nice hotel bar really.

Various others I simply would not bother with like that red shop round the corner from JJ Fox, um, No.1 or whatever. On my last visit they only stocked SLR and non-Cubans but I hear this place might have an interesting future ahead of it so do not write it off forever. Davidoff and Sauters worth a visit if buying cigars but not places I would choose to smoke, although you can sample there.

            Places that are good.

Ten Manchester Street Hotel. You can bring your own or buy from the humidor. They have introduced a twenty five pound minimum spend though. If you are there ages it is not a problem as you will spend that on drinks or buy a cigar of any cost, even a twelve pound something and the fee is dropped, unless its changed again. Warm in ANY weather.

Montague hotel. Smoke your own or from the humi there. Good drinks. Great and unless a really cold day, then you will struggle.

            Great places to smoke.

If the weather is glorious there is one place I love to smoke. The courtyard of Dunhills, Bourdon House. Great selection downstairs in huge room humidor. Good coffee, good drinks, good food. Not cheap but not expensive either. Nice staff if you are nice back.

If the weather is less wonderful then the Boisdale of Belgravie as talked about. As a member I can book a table upstairs and get twenty five percent off cigars so the prices not so bad. If it is very cold or windy then this can get cold.

There are a couple of others that have opened up that I have yet to try but that is what springs to mind. If the weather is good you have a thousand places to choose from anyway.

Well used to shoot there but ended up shooting at Northall more in recent-ish times.

It is very nice but they implemented that electronic clay counting system so you don't have more than the clays you pay for and it feels like the don't trust you any more, all very big brother. Most places have it now though, oh well.

Excellent list T. I cannae believe I was on Wardour Street the other week to get away from the bustle of the high street to take a phone call. I should of walked a bit further down and popped in.

Am I the only one who suspects this guy of being a foreign agent and using these boards to post 'coded messages' to his cohorts.

Someone should contact GCHQ and get this thing de-coded.
