  • 3 new sticks!

Bought 3 new sticks from the bear shop in Cardiff today.

I wanted to try some non Cubans because I've never actually had one and wanted to see if I could find anything good!

    So the 2 non-Cubans I bought were:

1 x Puros Indios which was very cheap and to be honest I'm not holding out much hope for....it was ?3.50 but I'll keep an open mind!

1 x An Olivia Serie O torpedo shape which was about a tenner I think

And then I bought one new Cuban which was:

    1 x San Cristobal El-Principe

Does anyone have any opinions on these sticks? I can't wait to get stuck into them myself but would like to know what to expect

    Cheers,
    JT

Your Cuban I would go for... mixed reviews when I had one but I liked it. Mine was a couple of years old, a nice pre-lunch cigar..
Of the others I know nothing...probably a little bit less!
    Your reviews are awaited

Not smoked a Olivia Serie O, bur the Serie V are OK. The Indio I know nothing about .... but, the San Cris El Principe I do. It's a great daytime/anytime smoke, very flavoursome, and I would agree with Puff Scotty, easily the pick of the three .... probably by a bus length!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Have to agree with the others, the SCdH El Principe is a great little daytime smoke.

I haven't had either of the other two, but have generally had decent experiences with the Oliva ranges (no idea about the other though...)

I've had a couple of the El Principe and it's a good cigar; just wasn't to my taste when I smoked them. Not tried the others I'm afraid. What did you think of The Bear Shop?

The bear shop was good and it does have a good selection....My only concern was the chap showing me round had the habit of saying everything was "an extremely nice smoke", now maybe he just loved everything but I always get a little bit weary when a salesman claims all his products are excellent.....because they can't all be excellent because everyone has different taste. Maybe I'm just being cynical and maybe it was just because they saw I was young and thought I was taking the micky but the service was a little less personal than I would have liked....it wasn't bad by any means but you know what I mean!

Which one was it? There's the younger one with long hair, two middle-aged ones (a taller smoothly spoken one and a shorter one) and an older guy. Sounds like the taller smoothly spoken one?

                  Yup that's the one!

Like I say nothing wrong with him perfectly nice I think i was just expecting a more animated response and guide you know!

                    Some others to try

The Ei Principle is a very nice smoke and ranks just behind the Partagas Shorts and the Ramon Allones Small Club Corona for me.

I think you are being very diplomatic about the younger staff in the Bear Shop as I found they did not have a clue. When I had only just started smoking cigars and had not yet acquired some knowledge about brands etc I asked about stength anf flavour profile and got the same answer as you "It's a very nice cigar sir"

The two older gentelman I have met are much more knowledgable, particularly the taller one,who I beleive is the owner. The younger staff wind me up so much with their lack of ability that unless I can see a member of the older staff able to serve me I don' even go in the shop

The Oliva O it's a nice stick for the money.
