  • European Union: Tobacco Products Directive 2001/37/EC

I haven't found anything on that topic here. So, I decided to open this thread. I know that UK is a country with very strict legislation. That's why I assume that fears regarding this topic in Germany are also applicable to UK.

The EU plans increasing the level of anti-smoker legislation.
    # No more presentation of tobacco products: That means no more visible tobacco products in shops.
    # Plain packaging, no presentation of cigars. No Humidors.
    # No advice allowed.
    # No more online shopping!!!
    # Finally no more cigar websites and platforms (for advice giving and selling).

    Link: http://ec.europa.eu/health/tobacco/c...cons_01_en.htm

There is a consultation online. Please check this link and fill out the following form: http://ec.europa.eu/yourvoice/ipm/fo...?form=tobacco6

    Thanks, Philipp!

          Don't panic.
But it's serious. I know some people from the sector and some of those have tough problems to find some sleep.
I don't know if it helps the situation a lot, but the best we can do now is to use this form that I posted above. At least we are able to do something.
And I believe that most non-smokers won't like the new regulations too much.

It's false and people don't like to be taken for a fool.

No more EU, oh what a glorious idea. Will we finally have a German Empire? Wait, no, that is what we already have by another name. Thank god we have such a strong Army, Navy and Air Force. Wait, no, we don't! CRAP!

This isn't going to end well.

Aren't we always? Sounds like I won't be able to buy a pretty box of cigars to settle my nerves even.....welcome to the police state.

They may have thought they had it bad with the student riots.... or the miner strikes.... just you wait till the sluggish apathy of the smokers kicks in! Grrrrr.... pop the kettle on!

There's been mention of having plain packaging for cigarettes in the newpapers the last couple of days but nothing more than that. The other parts sound similar to the Scottish law change though. Sign of the times, I fear.

I think we should listen to Philipp and worry a bit .... because once a bureaucratic ball gets rolling .... they'll never put their foot on it and admit a mistake .... well, not for about 50 years at least.

Which reminds me, we must be due an apology for the introduction of Comprehensive schooling soon.

Let's treat law abiding cigar smokers like criminals. The revolution starts now I tell you, let's overthrow big brother and bring in the new world order, cigar smoking new world order that is lol. If it does happen all it will do is put send suppliers websites overseas and the loss of tobacco sales will reduce the government tax revenue. Sounds like an idiotic plan so I'm not surprised the government will go for it.

Why don't we just follow the French & only apply those EU laws that suit us?
