Sounds like an 'ideal' or marketing line rather than a reality.

All I know is that every time I've smoked a cigar that's less than a year from it's box date, it's been less than perfect. I try never to smoke anything less than 18 months old as a general rule. I smoked D5s about 3 months after release and they were awful. Two years later and they're amazing. Massive difference

If the general consensus is that ageing does make a pronounced difference in taste and desirability I guess we should just thank the lucky stars our vendors don't make more of that.

ie.

2010 box = ?10
2009 box = ?10+
2008 box = ?10++ etc.

No vendor worth his/her salt would even think of selling puros before they are ready to smoke, which in my educated opinion, is no less than one year after the box date. But who knows, the airlines found a way too make us pay more for addition comforts that used to come with the price of a ticket.

In the end....I don't care what the lad told me about storing cigars. All he did was piss me off with his smart-ass, know-it-all attitude and loose a customer.

Who the hell did he think he was talking too??? Senor Eggman!!!

UPDATE!

I just got a boiler-plate email from the vendor asking why I canceled my order and asking me to call. I'll contact them on Monday and let them know what I think.
