I smoked my Davidoff Special R last evening
These are only my humblest opinions & observations - do I need help????

I'm the same as you, at first couldn't find a single NC that did anything for me. Things have changed with help and advice from forum members and while they don't have the same flavour profiles as the CC's, I've certainly found one or two damned tasty smokes.

I am assured there are some better NC's out there and with the right gudiance you will find some ...but don't let that put you off being 'firmly in the CC camp' ...its the place to be

I've never been fond of Davidoff's in general. Nearly every one i've tried has been bland or bitter and that appears to be the general consensus among my friends, too.

There is a marked difference between the typical flavour profile of CC's and NC's, but that doesn't mean that all NC's are poor - I had an Oliva Serie V Robusto on Friday that was easily in my top 5 best cigars ever. There are some fantastic NC's out there, just as there are some CC stinkers.

it would be great if some NC expert can do a 'NCs that will make you believe sampler pack', perhaps 2 or 3 great NCs.

I have been waiting 'to believe' for years. I think a better expectation is to 'enjoy' as (as best I can tell) they ultimately have a 'different' taste to CC's.

I think what I am trying to say is that one should enjoy NC's for being NC's as opposed to looking for that magic moment of 'enlightenment' when looking for something to match up to a great CC.

                  Horses for courses etc.

There are apparently one or two great NC's out there but these all seem to be very rare and very expensive. The last one I spent nearly ?40 on was the Padron 45th anniversary maduro, several fans told me I would 'believe' but for me (and several others I know) this was nothing more than a nice stick.

Now when I think of the number of great CC's one can buy for ?40 which can deliver close to a religious experience...

Having said all that I am still open to 'believing' ...just not convinced I will ever see the light ...all just MHO of course, some of my best friends love NC's

I don't know how common it is to age NCs to smoke, I certainly don't practice it. I do have some Fuente Anejos and Opus X that I have had in my possession for many years, but not because I purposely age them.

And the price point of most Davidoffs are so jacked that I'd rather spend my money on more tastier cuban sticks from across the pond.

So here is my short list of NCs that I truly enjoy..in no particular order and at no particular price range that I would recommend...

                          1. Fuente Short Story
                          2. Oliva V Lancero
                          3. Tatuaje Especiales (lancero)
                          4. Hammer and Sickle Robusto

                          6. Kristoff lancero
                          7. Berger & Argenti Mooch (my new favorite...feels and smokes like a fresh roll-not tightly packed; Connecticut wrapper and full of flavor)

Hard to obtain..wish they weren't limited run
                          1. CAO 65th Anniversary (not very available at all)
