So as some of you know I have still got two fairly old Partagas LE's which were a wedding gift from my wife in 2009.

    IMG_20250207_235940_copy_3840x2880.jpg

On the one hand, I know they were made to be smoked, and should be savoured, so for that reason I am looking forward to lighting them up. I will need a fitting occasion to get the most enjoyment out of them, so maybe on my 50th in a couple of years. Although the weather has historically been shite, so may need another occasion in the summer months.

On the other hand, I wonder if there will be any flavour left, so could build it all up for nothing. Then, of course, when they're gone they're gone. No more visual or haptic reminder that has been there like a good friend for so many years.

The other Partagas Black Series I had for well over a decade have been REALLY nice, so also have a similar feeling about smoking the last one of those too.

Part of me want to keep these, and never smoke them, but I could also be missing out on some mighty fine tobacco

Lolz you can still buy one

Finally the Partagas Series No. 1 Limited Edition has landed in the UK. These cigars are highly collectable and likely to sell out fast.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

4 years and you could smoke one for your 20th anniversary

I would think the experience would not be ideal considering the age and conditions but stranger things have happened. You could always keep the other as a momento, too

I was watching the Kirby/Jemma Freeman interview, where they discussed smoking the aged cigars. I'd ideally like optimum conditions for smoking one, so maybe a cigar lounge or terrace with great views? The Lanesborough Hotel has a lovely looking terrace, but it would appear you have to purchase a cigar from them. I am fond of Richmond & see that Gaucho has a nice terrace overlooking the Thames

          Any other ideas welcome

Can't beat a lovely cigar lounge. If you go speak to them nicely I'm sure after buying a stick from them, they won't mind (or see/care) if you smoke your own instead.

Wait till summer, take the Mrs to a nice country hotel spot where you can sit outside and enjoy your cigar while she has a bit of bubbly

I was given one when just 5yo, an amazing smoke & worth the modest mark up EL's had back then. Bought a box at auction & they weren't bad but softer with time. I really wouldn't wait anylong than this summer, country house garden or a BBQ in your own & smoke with a fine claret or whisky, enjoy! Plenty of time to buy something else for your 50th. Not a day you want to be underwhelmed. I'd suggest buying a Cohiba Piramides Extra or Sig VI tubos & keep that instead.

I am with Simon on this one. Smoke them when you can! I have now had a few vintage cigars - Cohibas and Montes - and some have been lovely and smooth and others have been a bit meh and flavourless.

I have even been tempted, for a few I have left, to try the running under the tap method (don’t shoot me) just to try and bring some life back into a couple - especially the Montes! Might have to try it later on in the summer months!

Always remember to enjoy what you have.. you never know what tomorrow will bring!

Smoke amd enjoy them. Take some pictures when you do and there's your memories.

My concern now is that they were neglected for over 10 years. Whatever humidification I had in with them dried out too. No mould so that's a bonus. Been slowly rehydrating them over the last year but the foot of one is looking a bit worse for wear
