  • Do I smoke these or not?

I've just been gifted these by a mate that travels to the Philippines on a regular basis. I'm slowly educating him in the world of cigars as he's a recent convert (Not that I know much either).

    "ALHAMBRA Double Coronas"
Their blurb on the 3 Pack: Alhambra cigars have been hand rolled since 1898 and are still hand rolled to this day (Look like short filler to me). The rich earth and warm climate of certain parts of the Philippines are ideal for tobacco growing. Towards the North of the main island of Luzon lies the Cagayan Valley, the country's finest tobacco growing region. It is here that all Alhambra cigars are grown (Wasnt aware you could grow "cigars") as the regions dark leaf is regarded as one of the worlds mildest & most flavorful. This is why Alhambra has the reputation for being the worlds mildest cigar (mildest yet most flavorful?).

From their website : Wrapper -- Java, Indonesia ,very popular, used in some of the best cigars.
Filler-- Isabela, Philippines. Philippine tobacco has the best burning quality of any tobacco in the world and produces a white ash.

Pretty hefty claims. These went straight in the freezer and are not going anywhere near my humis, ever. LOL. Please someone say these are worth lighting up, even just for fun?
What would I know? I'm just a backwoods roo packin crim from New Holland! LOL. (Thankyou El Cat)

They might be Auss .... but then there is always the Forum resource of last resort for this type of enquiry ..... Eggy.

PS. Beetles don't worry him .... they'd never get the chance to hatch!
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Well, we had a chap called Ferry on here a while back who worked for an Indonesian cigar company. The one I tried was certainly quite pleasant and I would have definitely smoked another. I've had Villiger Rio 6 cigars rolled with Indonesian tobacco too. It's a much sweeter tobacco than I'd had before but nice enough.
I've not tried Alhambra, but you might as well. What do you have to lose? Let us all know for future reference!

Yes I know Ferry and his cigars are good. I've also reviewed the Sultan Robusto for Yan in it's pre release and even though not to my taste was a very well made cigar. This one though, reeks of BS. After they unfreeze & have rested I'll review one just for the fun of it. LOL

I saw these in the duty free in Manilla a few weeks ago and didn't feel the need to try.

Spark one up in the name of research, or send to the crash test dummy.

lol crash dummy eh... ok ok if it means free sticks, i can be the crash dummy as for beetles, my experience is the eggs pop when the line of heat approaches them. Makes no difference to the flavour, just added protein lmao

Can't harm to try one Aussie. I'm looking forward to the review, even if it's just "tried it, threw it after two draws..."
