there have been known fake seals that have a gap or part of the serial number here. So this box has some suspect points and some legit checks? Could be a QC issue? I just wouldn't be confident either!

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

reckon the advice you have had here is as sound as it is possible to get.

If they are fake, they are going to a lot of trouble to make them look legit, and the complexity involved here is beyond my imagination. I bought some NC Cohibas in the Caribbean about 20 years ago now.. I was younger and not so wise. They were legit for the purposes of the sale. BUT the vendor was less open with the marketing. I simply didnt realise that there were NC versions of a few of the big marques. Anyways since then I've been ultra cautious about sources. FWIW the sticks were a mix of superb quality smokes and sticks rammed so tight with short filler that they were like concrete. The good ones made for good guest smokes at drunken BBQ's, and there rest went for humidor ballast, until my collection expanded. After that they were fire kindling!

The two other points for me are price... if the vendor is resolute on price they may not know they are fakes, and if you are really tempted see if they will sell you one to smoke as a feel of the cloth quality etc. if they are a decent smoke and the price is right, who cares if they got dressed in someone elses clobber.

If it were me, it's a plain swerve. There will always be more good cigars to spend your money on!

The box stamping and ribbon really look off to me. Agree with the other guys, the previous fakes would be more than enough for me to avoid. Not worth it.

There's good information floating around to help identify fakes, this is one of the more important ones.

Unfortunately you don't need to go through a lot of trouble, readily purchaseable in China 😬

FWIW I bought 2 Cohiba boxes from down under and one of them had a very dodgy looking ribbon print. Trusted source gives me confidence, but I was still worried when they arrived to be honest.

Identification is just not an exact science unfortunately - due to the Cuban .. joie de vivre!

So it ends up being a points scoring exercise against some tolerance. I have a very very low tolerance to fisk (risk of fake).
