  • 65% RH For the win

So spending some time on other forums many BOTL suggest 65% RH for cubans. I've always done 70% but was experiencing uneven burns and other issues. So about 2 months ago I decided to experiment with 65% beads in my small 20ct humidor. I finally cracked it this week to smoke some puros whilst travelling for work?

WOW! what a difference! Everything I have smoked this week burns better, tastes better and provides an overall more pleasurable experience.

The general consensus on these other forums is that NCs like a higher humidity, so for the time being the NC humi will stay at 70, but I may experiment a bit with those as well!

Exactly the set up I use.
    Particularly beneficial for maduros.

I may investigate again. Last time I tried I didn't feel it was beneficial.

I had the opposite experience. I have been much happier with my sticks (all CC's) at 70ish rather than 65ish where I used to keep them.

interesting, I've started dry boxing the Dippy 5's prior to smoking as the draw was terrible.

Fantastic apre dry, may have to try the 65rh idea?

Ok, so, ?I got a problem ! lol

My humi, or at least my hygrometer reads 79/80%, obviously very bad. So im heading off to our caravan tomorrow for a few days till Saturday, im taking my humi and going to calibrate my hygrometer over those few days and see if it makes any difference.

Im still waiting on SeanP to get back me to organise a humiDR.
So hopefully he'll get back to me soon !

I keep my NC's at 65rh and my CC's at 60rh and have great results.

I generally aim for 67%RH. Unfortunately, it does mean I spend most evenings picking splinters out of my arse. Seems to do the job pretty well though.

I'm someone who would, given the option of under- or over-humidified cigars, take the unders every day of the week.

I hedge my bets and have mine at 68%--I used to have some draw problems before this, but no longer. All's well that smokes well.

I keep everything at 65. I find if I keep my NC's at 70 they require dry boxing before smoking
