Are these Beetles?

Anybody know what this is? Only noticed it after cutting the cigar

Very hard to tell unfortunately. I’ve only seen a couple and they’re perfectly round - hard to tell on the cap.

Spacing and the way the holes pull inwards seem like it's been poked with those nub fork things maybe

I was about to type something similar, like a corn on the cob 2 pronged skewer?
It was an Esteban Carrera Mr Brownstone I got in a 10pk from a friend visiting the States. Individually wrapped in cello too

It also looked like it went the whole length of the cigar when looking at the foot when it was alight

Yup exactly like those corn cob skewer devices. Never had beetles so don't know much about how to treat a situation where you're unsure. Assume freezer then acclimatise in the fridge then back to humi?

Tobacco beetle holes look like wood worm holes or tracks. Those don't quite look the same to me.

I think they may have been slightly visible through the ash on the foot, and they looked like they aligned. The draw was VERY loose so plausible they could've run the whole length of the cigar

Maybe the tabacco leaf had a concentration of pesticide on it, or maybe the leaf in question wasn’t actually a tabacco leaf, unfortunately quality control is not very high in cigar producing countries, Cuba especially, probably making inhaling cigars not a good idea

I got through about half of it before letting it go out, so I'll let you know if I develop any side effects..

If you didn’t inhale the smoke into your lungs, probably the only side affect you’ll get is a bad taste in your mouth

It wasn't a very nice stick this time so maybe that contributed to it 👍🏼

they look too small and not linear, so unlikely to be beetle.

I've been told that beetles 'in' the cigar are given away by a popping noise when the burn line gets close!!

But, as they burrow 'out' you tend to hear it when you dont know you have them.

if you have any doubts, and have more of the sticks, wrap them and freeze them for a few days.

There are a number of posts about the 'how' of freezing and de-frosting

While I dont think they are likely to be what you fear, its a simple insurance policy
