  • Poorly stored Cohibas

Been kindly gifted two Siglo 1s but they are in poor shape. My guess is they’ve been in a draw for a year or so. They are dry as a bone and both wrappers damaged . I’m assuming the correct course of action is action is a program of rehydration in the tupperdore over a few weeks? They smell good and I think they have some life in them. Any advice welcome. Thanks

I would get the in some fairly low level Boveda packs (62%) and try and rehydrate them slowly in an tupidor.

Also I can recommend a new cigar repair product - I was part of a trial for a new cigar repair product from German company called Ciglue (https://www.ciglue.com/). It comes with a decent brush to get under loose cigar wrappers and the I believe the gum is the same sort used by the rollers.

Obviously I am not affiliated with the company - nor making anything from this recommendation - but it has worked well fixing a couple an old/damage sticks of mine.

Agree with the above, low rh in isolation for a few months. I’ve had cigars where the wrapper has entirely come off & apart from the look were unaffected regards smoking them.

Thanks for the link, I don’t think the wrapper is completely unwinding so don’t think I’ll use gum.

Yes I’ve lost wrappers in the past and still been able to smoke them

Cigar glue and some patiences in bringing them up to humidity. Worst case scenario its a poor smoke, but you got them gifted from the start!
