..... or more precisely what is the criteria that determines that a cigar becomes a single.
Don't get me wrong I'm a big singles fan. Buying singles is the only way I can afford to buy the more expensive or larger vitola. The only downside being, when you buy, especially online, you never really know how old a cigar might be when you get it.
Is it a case that retailers receive in boxes from H&F already pre-determined to be sold as singles or does the retailer select a box to break and sell as singles or is it simply because a full box has been broken into when a personal customer asks for a tasteing and decides not to buy?
I guess this also leads to one or two other questions. Is the quality of a 'single' generally as good as each of the cigars in an intact box. How good is a single for determining a box purchase ? especially as I've observed following Forum discussions ? when certain box years of different vitola are preferred.
