Hello there I have 2 boxes of cigars that where bought by my Father in Law some 50 years ago in Barcelona, and was wondering if they had any value will try my best to describe each box. Both still sealed

1.Troya-Martinez y Ca- 25 Universales-on back of case is printed Colorados

    2.Partagas-25 Perfectos-Colorado Claro

I have had a look around the web and can find out some info but wondered if you guys could shed any more light on who to get in touch with re selling them as we do not smoke them cheers

It really does epend on how they've been stored. If my calculations are correct, then you're looking at some pre-embargo Cubans there, which are highly sought after. However, if they've just been lying around without being properly humidified then by now there's probably little more than dry tobacco flakes inside those boxes (pretty worthless).

It might be useful to email Mitch at C.Gars Ltd. They have a cigar marketplace, which might be your best place to sell them (although I think it might be by invitation only). The folk at C.Gars are also very knowledgeable and can advise you as to value.
I'm still waiting for the whiskey to whisk me away
And I'm still waiting for the ashtray to lead me astray

Yes, assuming they are pre-rev Cubans, their condition will be all important.

Mitch at CGars (in NW London) is definitely a good call - he's taken over the (proper) auction facilities that Christies used to offer. I think that's probably a better means of disposal than his "market place" - talk it over with him.

If you want a second opinion, or indeed a first - AJ @ La Casa in Teddington is a good bet. You could possibly also try JJ Fox in SW1 and/or Dunhills in W1. Whatever, I'm sure they'll want to actually see the goods.

Pre-embargo or not, well kept or not, the fact is that Partagas Perfectos and Troya Universales are (were) very commun, cheap machine made cigars…

Even if they were very common and cheap machine made cigars, I suspect that, if in reasonable nick, they would now be fairly rare, and reasonably pricey machine made cigars...

As others have said, Mitchell is right at the top of the list to find out about these things. JJ Fox are also pretty hot on the older cigars (and have a lot stored for customers), though not so sure about how much interest they take in valuing and selling on behalf of third parties.
