You're in for a treat, nice, smooth and floral I find, wanted one ever since I saw Scent of a Woman and Al Pacino ordered his nephew to get some... even if it was a distraction for him to then commit suicide...

Thanks, sounds awesome I am definitely looking forward to it. We rented a place with a hot tub, got some nice whisky and brandy to take with us to enjoy with the cigars. Also taking some Bolivar Belicosos Finos cigars as well so should be a good mini break to unwind.

Could you be pressured into picking just 2 of these?

Funnily enough it’s probably my least favourite pyramid, I find the ones I’ve had have all been a bit underwhelming. Would be one of the last I’d pick from the Monte line up.

On the basis that favourite is not the same as best ever, I'll go with Punch Double Corona and RASS (was a toss up between that and Upmann Magnum 50).

Best ever tried was vintage Partagas Connoisseur number 1 in the Leopard Lounge with a few members on here on a cigar holiday to Geneva a few years back. And Cohiba Double Corona when I celebrated selling my first home. I think the occasion plays a big part in these choices.

I'll have to cancel to the 2 boxes I ordered you for Christmas then

Nah seriously, this is the wonderful thing about cigars and interesting to see in this thread, that what is a favourite cigar for some may be a last choice in the range for others.

I have a friend who always puts ice in his whisky, so we always give him a bit of a ribbing over it but the important thing with cigars, whisky etc... is to have what you like, the way you like it.

I couldn't agree more that the occasion can play a big part in the enjoyment of cigars.

I think the Monte and Boli are great choices, Opus X would be my top for non CCs. Should all be good to smoke in Snowdonia, altho its triggering for me as when we went it was so cloudy we could not see a thing, and then a few days later on TV I saw what the view could have been in the sunshine and it was spectacular. Similar thing happened to me with Mt Fuji, as a kid I waited for ages to see it on the Shinkansen and then suddenly had to go to the loo and missed it, my Mum laughed her head off.

I don't get Monte 2's either, all the other piramides are far superior for my palate.
I'd have to go with SLR DC and Lusitanias.
If I had any Magnum 56 and more than 5 Esplendidos left I'd say those but can't see me acquiring many more.

I'd agree with you on the piramides - P2, Upmann no.2 and Vegas Robaina Unicos are better smokes imo.

I think to answer you have to say why it's your favorite.
I am not sure a cigar can be your favorite without a story behind it.

Leaf by Oscar: I don't live in a city or get to wear a suit very often. But I had just visited the Leipzig ballet with my wife. She was wearing a beautiful ball dress. It was late summer and we had perfect evening weather.
We sat outside on a rooftop bar in the tallest (and maybe only) sky scrapper in the city and watched the sun go down. A light warm breeze took the smoke away. A very happy wife and my first ever Leaf by Oscar. This warm breeze always comes back to my memory when I smoke one.

MC no2: In another life, I used to work as a medic offshore. I was on a Shell oil rig as far away from Scotland as you can fly before you arrive in Norway. From memory, the back-breaking helicopter ride took 4 hours. I arrived (for the first time) feeling sick and went right onto a 12h night shift. Where I got sicker and sicker. My back-to-back. Who is on this group (he can decide if he wants to reveal his name or not.) saw the condition I was in and sent me to bed. For 3 days and nights, I slept. Only waking up to him checking my obs and bringing me food and water.
Finally, the sickness passes and as our rotation continued we became friends. On our second shift together he flew out with an array of aged cigars I had never seen before, just for me.
The MC no2 was defiantly my favorite and it is now forever in my memory connected to him and a tiny (very dirty) smoking lounge on an oil rig in the middle of nowhere.
Hi Nic, Great stories & happy to know I played a small part in your Habanos journey. Difficult conditions to really get the most from an aged classic cigar but without alcohol & flashy distraction of a grand cigar lounge, the only thing to concentrate on is the cigar!

Shame Monte No2's are HTF & getting crazy expensive (in the UK at least, still e17 in Belgie), if you ever get the chance to try one from pre-'98, take it, they were a different cigar.

A choice of only 2 cigars?! I couldn't honestly give you my fav two brands. So for the sake of trying to play the gave I checked my spreadsheet & my most 2 smoked cigars are the ERDM DT, followed by the Monte No4. The former because there are just so many occasions a wee DT can be fitted in to one's day & the No4 because I used to buy boxes of these back at the start of my Habanos journey, so even though I rarely smoke one now, they are still No2. These days I rarely smoke the same vitola more than 2 or 3 times a year. For interest sake, No3 most smoked Hoyo Epi No2

PL montecarlo. Even after all these price rises they are one of the best value smokes ever.

Hoyo epi 1. Super classy and never had one that hasn't been superb. Now even better value compared to Trinidad and CohIba!
