  • JJFox Cigar Lounge

I'm planning on going to a cigar lounge tomorrow with some friends and currently looks like JJ Fox may be the chosen place. I've walked past the place several times but never been in. So I am curious to hear from those who have used the JJ Fox cigar lounge before. What should I expect?

    Is booking required?
I know there is complimentary coffee and water but is it possible to get any alcoholic drinks there? If not are you allowed to take your own bottle of whisky?
    Is there a dress code?

Please feel free to share any experiences and advice you have for JJ Fox's cigar lounge.

No booking required or dress code, no alcohol, I usually get a large coffee from Cafe Nero on Piccadilly. Remember you have to buy your cigar in the shop as it is a sampling lounge not a smoking lounge. Have fun.

PS They have CCTV to catch you passing the whisky around.

If you want to smoke your own cigars & enjoy them with alcohol, I'd recommend Boisdales, the Belgravia branch is 5mins from Victoria Station. Has a Roof top terrace, that's covered above & sheltered by surrounding buildings. Not that that should be an issue at present. Considering current prices of cigars in London/UK & the size of cigar I can smoke with just coffee, this is my personal preference.

Thanks both, great advice and information.

Alcohol isn't a deal breaker for us. We do normally enjoy a whisky with our cigars but really not the end of the world. We can enjoy a coffee there and then enjoy a nice whisky back at mine afterwards. Yeah, I know I will need to buy the cigar there to smoke there. I know it's the law, but feels a bit silly in my opinion. Same as the place where I have my locker I can only smoke inside there if I am buying the cigar that day I can't smoke inside any of the cigars I have previously purchased from them and stored in my locker. Again, I know this is the law and not them.

I do have a cigar locker just 2minutes away from JJ Fox so as a backup can always grab some cigars from there and go to Boisdales as recommended. Original plan was to go to Locket's but looks like they are closed on weekends.

Definitely looking forward to checking out JJ Fox though. I have seen some real mixed reviews online so should be interesting!

Depends who's in there. Some loud mouthed idiots sometimes. But generally quiet enough.

So we started of with a cigar in C.Gars St James the staff there are fantastic and I always have a great laugh and joke with them whenever I am there. We got chatting to a few other people that were there having a smoke as well.

Then we moved on to JJ Fox for a smoke there. Honestly, wasn't entirely sure what to expect but again was great service there. We started by checking out the museum downstairs then went into the humidor where a member of staff came in with us and answered every question we had in great detail. They were really friendly and polite we felt very welcome there. Went upstairs and the cigar lounge was pretty full, but there was an older gentleman sat on his own we asked if we could join him and then had a really great conversation with him like we had known him all our lives. The staff member who served us and prepared our cigars then came upstairs to provide us with some coffees and bottles of water.

I had read online that JJ Fox charge more to buy cigars in store rather than online so was expecting them to be a bit pricey. The cigar we had (Romeo y Julieta Short Churchill) is a couple of quid more expensive than my usual place but I paid the same price in store as they have it marked online. So not sure how many of their cigars are actually priced differently in store but doesn't seem like it's all of them.

All in all was a great experience in both places. I certainly look forward to returning to them both and highly recommend them to anyone who hasn't been.

For anyone with the same questions as me, I can confirm there is no dress code. No booking is required though be aware it can get pretty packed. They don't offer alcohol but you get free coffee and water.

Definitely recommend it mcdee , if you can make the day off it then C.Gars and Davidoff Of London are both less than 2 minutes walk from JJ Fox. All are very much worth a visit.
