  • Never smoked a cigar. Want to try.

You guys probably get this A LOT, but I don't know where else to ask to fuck it.

I am 18 and I have never smoked a cigar (have smoked 'other' stuff) want to try it.

Something about it really appeals to me, its looks really relaxing, pleasurable and rather alpha.

I would like to know a couple of things:

What type do you suggest I should smoke (for a beginner)?

And how much about will it be? I am planning on going to my local supermarket (Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Waitrose) so prefferably cigars I can buy there.

I would really appreciate your thoughts.

Waitrose do a fairly good line in tubed Cubans. You could buy a 5 pack of something but that would probably be a false economy.

Personally I would email Cgars and get a couple of singles to start with - probably better than what you would get in Waitrose

I'm also 18, and can seriously say that a supermarket is NOT the place to buy a cigar, as a beginer with no knowledge I wasted alot of money on what can only be described as crap. Personally I'm still very much learning but my favourite at the moment is the Partagas SD4.

That cigar is ?11.99 from our sponsor here..http://www.cgarsltd.co.uk/partagas-s...ars-p-528.html

I want them fairly fast and like I said I would prefer a supermarket :/

I have a waitrose like 2 minutes from me, what 'type' and 'brand' of cigar would you suggest. I really want to try it out.

        Thanks

Seriously, I'm not 18 but I am fairly new to this, listen to the advice above.
Wait for a good cigar from a cigar specialist and it will be much better experience, maybe even a regular pleasure.
You cant go wrong with cgars, as for which ones to try, I'm no expert but I first got turned on by a Cohiba Esplendido, Che's cigar of choice.

I concur with molidoid, at least you'll have a better range of cigars to choose from and you know they've been kept well.

Rushing into Waitrose, and picking up what they've got is a bit like getting off with Susan Boyle at a disco, it could put you off it for life.

Couple of nice Robustos would get you started, have a look at the Cgars website (click the link above) decide what fits your budget (If you're really on a budget the Invicta Nicaraguans are really good value) and give em a call.
If you're unsure ask Michelle or any of the girls their advice.

If you ask nicely I'm sure they'll throw in a cutter and some matches to get you started.

Otherwise you'll find lots of very knowledgeable chaps on here, along with people like myself who are not as experienced.

            Welcome to the forum.

Thank you so much for the quick responses.

Is this a good set to get started, it is more in my price range. As a student I don't have a lot of money to spend on expensive cigars:

do a google for cigar shops in your area as you never know there might be a little shop near you to walk in and look. Brand wise you can't got wrong with some of the major brands like Romeo y Julietta, Monitcristo or Partagas. I'd go for some of the smaller and cheaper sized cigars until you know what you like, i wouldn't go for anything bigger than a robusto (about 4 inches in length a reasonably fat in width). Also light your cigar with a butane lighter or a match. Cgars delivery is very fast and they through in a decent plastic cutter and i think a book of cigar matches with my first couple of orders to get you started. Read around the forum, search waitrose as they seem to have a better range of cigars. Think they do good/cheap H Upmann and Romeo y Julietta cigars that will be good for your first cigar.

Spend a bit more. Get a lot more flavours.

Okay, this is quite daunting there are SO many different types of cigars, so many options to choose from.

This is the closest shop to me: http://holtsofcanterbury.com/Single-Cigars(2101854).htm is this worth a visit?

That 'Cricket' selection is a bit Meh.

As my grandfather said "You get what you pay for, except in Thailand"
