Cigars drying out. Help

I have around 50-60 in a humi with a boveda. Hygro showing 66% but the last few I’ve tried smoking have started cracking where they must be too dry. Boveda seems ok. Any fixes?

Whats the rating on the boveda? And is it still hydrated? Digital or analog hygrometer? Have you calibrated it?

These temperatures will lower the RH readings. Cracking when smoking could be over hydrated! If you roll a cigar between your fingers and you can hear it crunching, then its dry.

In fact I can hear this cracking between my fingers. Will the others be able to be rescued?

If they've just started sure, add more boveda or raise the humidity somehow. But will take quite some time for the sticks to come up to humidity.

I’ve bought 2 72 bovedas will that be too much? Can you tell I’m panicking.

You can't put in too many Bovedas

If I put both in for a week or so will that get them back? The hygro is digital so should be accurate I would assume.

In fact I’ve just found the unused xikar humi pack that came with it. I’ve unwrapped it and put that in until the bovedas arrive.

However I have no propylene glycol. I’m having a mare.

What's your set up? What humidor and what's in it currently? In terms of humidifier and is it full of cigars?

How long has it been set up and did you season it? And did you calibrate your hygrometer? Salt test?

Just a plain old tupperdor with a boveda 72 pack in. I haven’t calibrated the hygro but it’s digital so I made the assumption I wouldn’t need to? There’s about 50 in there at present.

What type of Tupperware? Does it have an air tight seal? Make sure it's "in a cool dark place". At 66% you shouldn't have any issues.

It’s a Xikar with a valve but has never been opened. It might be because of the heat tbf. It’s stifling in the room at the moment, but it is out of the sunlight.

When you say cracking, what do you mean? Are they exploding/falling apart when you smoke them?
They might be too humid; I find Bovedas tend to keep humidity levels at the level stated on the packet in a sealed tupperware. Hygrometers are often inaccurate.
How are the cigars before you smoke them, do they feel dry/brittle, soft/spongy or just right?

I personally wouldn't keep cubans at 72%, I have 4 62% packs in my current smoking stash tupper and that's perfect for me. Long term storage at 65%. I do keep NC's at 69% but 72 seems high, especially for a tupperware.
