Over the weekend I had a bit of a tidy up and a sort through of the collection. For some time I have been simplifying my collection down to the smokes I want/like and know I enjoy. This has been rewarding for me to remind myself how lucky I am to be a part of a great community that helps each other out in sharing knowledge, insights, and of course sticks!

My main collection is now loaded towards a few core marquee and vitolas- perhaps too narrow for some, but it works for me. Anyhow, amidst all this I was taken back to my first humidor, bought back in 1997. Over the years it has housed all sorts of sticks, from the simple to the exotic. And now it houses a neat sample of the CR's I've amassed.

In one of my favourite authors series of novels, there is a character who has a stash of CR cubans, and his colleagues are always trying to have them away! While I am gladly free of cigar snafflers, I have a great sense of personal contentment about the sight of this simple little well stocked humidor....

happy smokes, and long ashes BOTL's and SOTL's!

Proper cigar porn. There's definitely something lovely about the sight of stashes of unbanded cigars. The pics of stacks of bare cigars on shelves are a favorite. And I look forward to visiting some factories sometime to walk among them and smell the wares. I long got rid of my old desktops that I do regret for sentimental reasons! But practicality won over. I think I'm down to a box of customs effectively - I should do some sorting too.

On the whole I have liked all the customs I've tried. And I wish we could get easier access to them!

No bands removes a lot of the pretense that can come with cigars. It's a purer product? I wonder if I'd be better served by a cabinet full of unbanded cigars.....

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

The old cabs where there were no bands made buying singles an admin task if you held them for any period... and much as I would love to unband my cabs, I think the risk to the wrappers as I unpick the bands is too high for me!

Pleasingly I loosely know what these are, as I have the bought bundle, badged and stored together in boxes.

I cant imagine the mayhem if I went into my other desktops and liberated them from their shiny shackle...

I did once dream of desktops by marque... but box buying stops that dead in its tracks... no desktop is ever big enough
