Cigar construction

I’ve just done a dissection.
Leaves at the other blockage tell a story. There were several that looked like a H when carefully opened out. With more leaf at the middle it was tighter there. Also some leaves were twisted tight like a cord and others wrapped horizontally. A couple of big stalks in the mix didn’t help with other small bits of leaf scrunched up too. This is how they sat in the cigar if you imagine the cigar is vertical in the picture. An unholy mess of construction.

I was more thinking whether entubar could be identified from the foot.
However the foot of my last Bolivar looked fine but it’s absolutely plugged from head to mid cigar. Solid as a stick. It’s being dry boxed to see if I can get some air through it.

I've read I think on the Australian forum...

When it's that plugged...cut the head wrap the body in cling film and leave it in the fridge..it's supposed to loosen it with the moisture.

Can't say I've done it though.

No I only took this one photo. I’ve found Cuban cigars to be very hit and miss regarding construction. 1/3 are great, 1/3 are tight but smokable, 1/3 are not smokable without a serious amount of work to loosen them up of which 1 or 2 from a box are no hopers.
I doubt emailing a complaint will change anything.

Accepting we are all different & enjoy different firmness of draw & that some ditch stix others would think unacceptable, I can honestly say I have ditched less than have a dozen Cuban cigars over 25yrs. Sure I have had those that needed a cocktail stick to open them up (just being long enough to pass the band) \& 5yrs ago so ago I bought a Perfect Draw but funnily enough my herfing buddies have used it more than me. I certainly don't find 1/3 of every box 'not smokable without ...work'.

Two things that might account for this, I smoke 5-10yr old cigars this does make a difference, especially with Cohiba's & I store them under 65%, any skinny sticks around 63-62%. The other alternative is smoke recent Cuban's, which are rolled loser & sometime too lose for me! I think this is their attempt to get rid of the plugging rep' & make the tobacco go further. It's also easy & quicker, than teaching the rollers to do it properly in the first place!
