Pretty crazy when you consider all of the other things you can legally do in Holland.

It’s very strange, even though the indoor smoking ban is Europe wide (don’t quote me on that) every time I’ve been to Europe it doesn’t seem to actually be enforced

You mean that one can smoke say cigarettes indoors?

The cigar lounges were specifically for sampling. Which is obviously a different thing. I've not seen any news about what the reason for this sampling lounges change is. Probably the continued demonization of tobacco from the general smoking issues.

Yes smoking cigarettes indoors, it just doesn’t seem to be enforced.

Just surprised they would target cigars when cigarettes are still smoked everywhere and obviously cannabis in Holland is the main draw for a lot of tourism.

They have on paper, you have to have a licence to use the cannabis cafes but guess what? They'll sell you one.

This is already the case in Maastricht, it's decided by the individual councils at the minute.

In my cafe in Antwerp they had a glass house, inside for smoking. They stopped using it during Covid, but really if there was only two using it on separate tables they would have been 2 meters apart. But when I asked the owner if they'd re-opened it yet, he said he doubted he'd ever get permission to open it again. Council taking advantage to enforce a ban they wanted to bring in yrs ago.
