Good afternoon everyone, I recently purchased a new humidor which a shelf and has capacity for 100 cigars and having seasoned it have stocked it accordingly. I put in one gel bead pot for humidification in the bottom section and put a digital hygrometer on the shelf above after about a week it was only reading mid fifties so I took the pot out and put in 2 bovida 6o gram packs one in the base and one on the shelf above and another hygrometer another week has passed and the bottom now reads 58 and the top 62. Is it normal to have such a difference bearing in mind it's only 6 inches deep, or do I need to give it more time to settle down.

How did you season it? Sounds like it wasn't up to humidity and the wood's still pulling moisture. The 2 hygrometers may have different variances. Have you checked or calibrated them? (Put in a ziplock with a boveda overnight should show up any differences.)
Is the humidor near a window or radiator?
Does sound like it needs more time. Also if you want to be sure there are no leaks in the humidor, wrap it in cling film and check it after a day.

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Thanks for the replies, it was seasoned with an open bowl of xikar solution for just over a week until the hygrometer reached 72 then I started filling it, the hygrometers were brand new but spent a day in another humidor and they proved accurate. It was filled over three weeks not all put in at once.

It's levelled off at 6o% top and bottom today I think I'm jumping the gun expecting it to reach correct levels in too short a time. I won't be touching any of the cigars until at least next summer so I'll see how it pans out
thanks for everyones replies.

Give it more time.
Don’t get to hung up on humidity. So long as it stabilises and remain relatively stable everything will be OK. My humidors all sit next to each other and their humidity and temperature fluctuate by 2-3 degrees depending on time of year and room temperature. DON’T PANIC!!
