"I smoke in moderation. Only one cigar at a time." Mark Twain
"I drink a great deal. I sleep a little, and I smoke cigar after cigar. That is why I am in two-hundred-percent form." Winston Churchill
Glad you enjoyed it Max, yes yours are classics too. Many out there, here's a couple I like that I think go together.
"A cigar numbs sorrow and fills the solitary hours with a million gracious images." George Sand
"No cigar-smoker ever committed suicide." William Maginn, Irish writer
I'd like to believe the latter is true but I am sure ol' Bill was using a little writer's licence but I think there's something in it. One of the first signs of depression, is no longer finding pleasure in things you usually do. So if you start to find that not just one or two but none of your cigars seem to give you any pleasure smoking them anymore than it maybe you are or are becoming depressed.
Whilst you reflect on life with your cigar, hopefully you can see the positives as well as the negatives & the joy of the flav, taste & feel should lift your spirits & enable you to finish on a high & feeling more positive.
Another thought, although some people commit suicide on the spur of the moment (especially in the young) many have thought about it for a long time, maybe years. People who feel that way don't buy cigars to smoke in 10yrs time, when they don't think they'll be around to enjoy them.
Either way, cigars can give us pleasure, when others aren't available e.g. a bad woman, strong alcohol or a fast stream; although of course - where if not when is rather restricted these days. It remains my main pleasure & only celebration when on the rig & so I think I'll light one up this afternoon!

They are great quotes you've selected 👍🏻
I agree, cigars are definitely a personal pleasure and a chance to have some alone time to enjoy reflecting on life itself and the profile of the smoke. I think you're right about buying cigars to age too! I guess it's something positive to look forward to enjoying in the years to come.
Depression usually gets hold of us all somewhere in life, so it's a good idea to keep positive things around to keep things balanced. There are positives in all the possibilities of life, hopefully cigars help us all remember that.
Sounds like a fantastic idea. I'll be doing the same! Enjoy the smoke Simon 😉👍🏻
