  • "touch" contamination

    Hi all,

I remember being told somewhere that it is not a particullarly good idea to have cigars of different brand and model touching each other, as the wrappers will, simply by being near each other, seep into each other damaging the taste.

Is this a bit of an exaggeration or spot on? Does it apply for just if you're laying cigars down for a long time?

At the moment I separate my cigars with tubed cigars, but is this all a little unnecessary?

    Many thanks,
    Jt

The "marrying" of cigars has been talked about many times. From what I have heard it is mostly talk.

Most on my stock is boxed or singles seperated by size, cigar, brand, etc for ease sake verus fear of marrying

I think your safe store them however you wish - no fear of cross pollentation

IMHO it can happen but takes a fair amount of time. The only time I've seen it without a doubt was a number of strong cigars surrounding a very mild one. Took 6 months but actually improved the mild one. Wouldnt worry on it too much.
What would I know? I'm just a backwoods roo packin crim from New Holland! LOL. (Thankyou El Cat)

I wouldn't worry too much about it in the short term. I've got drawers of singles that I seperate into brands, I use the cedar blocks that you get in the bottom row of dressed boxes. Some of those cigars have been in there for a few years.

The few NCs that I have are sitting side by side in an old desktop humi, I seem to be less bothered about them.

I would only worry over years. I keep all my singles together, and the rest live in their boxes.

You may want to consider investing in a lockable humidor!

I'm sure I could "Freshly Roll" something for you but the dog & the weeds in the back yard are gonna play a part. We have 14ft high castor oil weeds here. LMAO.

I only wish my cigar taste buds were sufficiently developed to be able to detect the difference! Right now, my rating system consists of: Yum, Good, Okay, Meh, and Dogrocket.
