  • Cigar Holders?

So I was watching a Fritz Lang film last night (The Testament of Dr. Mabuse, 1933), and I saw something I thought rather strange--one of the characters was smoking a cigar through a holder. I had to double take; I've seen many cigarette holders, but never a cigar holder. Anyone heard of or tried this?

Quite unusual but they're definitely around. Rubin smokes a cigar in one at the demolition of the hotel in Ocean's Eleven.

Having said this one of Davidoff's rules is not to use one!

There are a couple on FleaBay at the moment, one's made of Amber.

Can't say I've ever felt the need for one, all a bit Noel Coward for me.

They were popular in the 1930's.

In the movie Idlewild, the gangster played by Ving Rhames is shown using a large one, for big cigars?

Can't say as I want one myself--seems like it would create a heavy load on the mouth.

George Burns, one of the most famous and iconic cigar smokers in recent history used a cigar holder most of his life, apparently prompted to do so by his wife Gracie.
Never liked the plastic tips myself and even back in the Old Port days I bought the "naked" variety although many folk bought cigars with the attached "holders". Most older smokers in the USA will remember the "Cigars, Cigarettes, Tiparillos" ads.

I had a feeling this joke would be made. Then again, we do spend our time here talking about the pleasures of sucking on sticks for long periods of time.

There's enough material to produce several sequels!
