  • Storing in humidor, in or out of tubes?

    Guys,

Had a search through the old posts but could not find anything so apologies if this question has been done to death.

I have my first Humidor and have loaded my stash in it but what about tubed cigars? Do you just put them in still in the tubes or remove them from the tubes and store that way, surely if they are in the tubes they are going to be sealed from the humidified environment within the humidor.....

Also they do not half take up some room when they are still tubed, and I am already thinking I should have bought a larger humidor.

I know, I know, before everyone says we told you so definitely should have bought a bigger one ........

    Regards

    Simon

I've done both, but I suspect the answers you get will come down to personal preference. If I was intending to smoke them within 3 months, I'd keep them in the tube. Out, if longer storage was intended. My reasoning is probably not sensible though!

I usually keep them in the tubes with the caps off. I like to think the cedar lining of the tube imparts subtle flavour changes to the cigar. I am probably completley wrong, but i like to think it.

Me too. Probably bollocks but it keeps me happy!

                Cellophane - On/Off!

I always keep them in the A/Ts, caps off, suspended up-side-down from the top of the humidor (bat-gars)

But seriously folks....Senor Daver69 is right - it's more of a personal preference, rather than a storage thing. I leave mine in the tubes because:

                1. It looks cool

                2. Easier to pop in a pocket or give to an amigo.

                Hope this helps!

                Mmmmmm! I perfer tubes in!

I take them out of the tubes cause I think they humidify better, might be wrong though.

I'm another who generally takes the cap off but leaves the cigar in the tube. Like the others, I like to think that the tube's cedar lining adds a little something over time. Then I just have to whack the lid back on before hitting the road.

There's probably nothing to this argument though, and it quite probably is just a personal preference thing.

In the humidor in their tubes...

                            But that's just me...
