  • Genuine Punch Punch

I have just purchases some Punch Punch from abroad which are 3mm smaller than what I know to be genuine ones from this country. Are they fakes or is it a case that there is a quality control problem in the factory in Cuba ?

Lots of variance with CC quality control, 3mm difference is not uncommon (are you talking about length or girth?).

More important questions - where did you buy them from, are the box/seals/stamps/codes all correct?

Some detailed pictures will help a lot.

Perhaps introducing yourself at 'newbe greets' would be a good way to start.

The main proof is in the smoking - try one and see if they're up to scratch.

        Thanks for the reply.

I was talking about the length.

The box/seal etc are all correct, however they had been opened to check the quality before being posted and therefore could have been swapped.

I dont think pictures will help due to the small difference in size.

        What is newbe greets ?

Abroad online or abroad Duty Free? Which country? Might be worth a quick glance over the rules concerning overseas source discussion here.

You're lucky enough to have your box checked, you don't know about quality control in Cuba, and you seriously think some employees in a huge warehouse in could SWAP some Punch Punch?

I wasn't suggesting the people in the warehouse in Cuba, but the online retailer could purchase a legitimate empty box for next to nothing and fill the contents with fake cigars to make a profit.

Sorry, but I must say that: if you know SO little about this business and its channels, you should NOT order from online retailers.
How could you send these people $xxxxx if you think they could rip you off?

I was recommended to use them by someone who also recommended this forum and therefore I thought it was worth a punt. As the previous reply said I wont know if they are genuine until I smoke one. However I guess my main question was if a genuine cuban cigar could still be slighty smaller than advertised both in ring guage and length. How strict are they regarding standars in the factory and does that differ dependent upon which country the cigars are headed ?

For me, like small club you have to trust your retailer, else there isn't a point..

They're good questions J, and I guess the best answer is probably not very and no

There's loads of variables involved in a leaf being grown, cured, wet, dried, wet, dried and wet (don't quote me on this process), then stretched out, rolled up and down, shaped, formed, twisted, cut and capped. Then add on a period of undetermined humidity, possibly drying out, possibly over humidified, expanding slightly, shrinkage. Get the idea?

It's a natural product, manufactured and there's going to be variables. If you're so unhappy about the cigars, perhaps it might be worth taking issue up with the vendor?

Don't think 3mm would mean they are fake they could dry out an loose 3mm!
