  • Useful 'Gar Information

A while back I nominate a post by Mr. White (Tar In My Gar) as the most useful post of 2009.

Other useful information I've gleaned from this forum include, among other things...

    1. Canoeing cigars
    - turn the long side of the puro to the bottom.

    2. Wrapper Woes
    - "Monica" your gar when it starts to unwrap.

Are there any helpful tips that you would like to share with the forum?

Names Perro, el Perro, and this thread will be a good place to warehouse useful puro tips!

Hey el Perro! Can we start a thread on the care and maintenance of blu-balls?

great idea for a thread. have to agree on the monica method at keeping those wrappers hanging on. seems to be the only way i have found to correct this problem!

my suggestion is for the plugged puro. im sure some of you have done this before....but when a cigar is plugged....more times than not i have noticed that there is this stem or perhaps you call it a vein? that is of a good size that you can see at the head of the cigar after you have clipped it. if i have a bad draw i always look for this vein. sometimes there are two of them! i will then massage the cigar a bit to allow the tobacco to come out of the head a bit then i yank it out. usually with my teeth! but here is a pic of what it looks like. the draw will change big time for the better. give it a try! dont throw it out!

        Agreed!

Though, popping your 'Puro' into a 'box' that's too dry can result in a 'split wrapper'!!!

(That'll bring tears to your eyes!)

                    You Guys Are Lame!

Where are all the so-called Cigar Aficionados when you need one?

                    Okay...I'll pop another one up.

A distant relative (old maid, actually) from Peru taught us Coro Boys to rotate our puros so the burn evenly as we smoke 'em....or was that what Monica said?

No matter, it's a good tip!

Hey el Perro! I rotate my blu-balls when I play with 'em!

If your going to be away from your lit cigar for any considerable time, clip the lit end with your cutter and blow any remaining smoke out. You get less of that stale smoke taste on relighting. It provides a clean cut and goes out right away and can be stored easier than a smoldering cigar.

Another upside is re-lighting should taste better as your not smoking the already burnt bits that you would have done.

                        Poor Hombre's Aging!

                        Aging Your Puros!

Hombres! Aging is a great way to enjoy the Puro Adventure, but not everyone can afford to put away a box for several years, let alone buy a box!

So, me little bro, BJ, BJCoro, came up with a method to enjoy the benefits of aging on a budget. Instead of aging an entire box, he takes two sticks from each box TJ buys, label them with the name, date and factory code.(using the tissue-like paper strips that come with many boxes, and a spot of glue), and stores them in a box for super aging (10 years of more).

This is a simple method to super-age your puros on a tight budget.

So what about the rest of you (Ahem!) Aficionados....got any tips you'd like to share with the forum?

Hey, el Perro! I doubt they have the blu-balls to post....shame, actually.

(Hurumph!) Perhaps they're just aficionado posers!

1 day dry boxing of NCs has never created a problem for any wrappers for me . But everyones experienced different results,

Try it you'll like it !money to burn $

I found that the best way to age your puros is to wormhole it. Just buy a box of your favorite cigars and find a wormhole. They are everywhere so you could do it right from your own home if you want. Anyway, jump back in time through the wormhole, about 10 years or so, and give yourself the newly purchased box. Make sure you tell yourself to hold on to these things and not smoke them until 10 years in the future. Aside from the obvious paradox this makes it easy for you to jump back through the wormhole and suddenly find your puros right where you left them 10 years ago! Enjoy!

Great idea, though wouldn't it be easier to just bet on various games, stock markets, and lotteries and then buy whatever the hell you wanted with all of that money?
