  • Sir Winston Churchill memorabilia

Come on own up, who has been buying and not posting.

They have sold off Sir Winston Churill's memorabilia and his cigar went for a few pennies. Now the question is should the new owener smoke it?

An unsmoked Havana cigar offered in a box beat its estimate of ?1,000-?1,500 to fetch ?2,125.

One of the largest collections of Sir Winston Churchill memorabilia, including an unsmoked cigar, has sold for nearly £600,000 at auction.

It was a Comacho cigar that was sold, probably why he gave it away, stand corrected if Comacho was ever a Cuban cigar

Camacho was started in 1961 and the current owners (since about 1995??) have always claimed that Churchill liked the original cigars-for only a few short years apparently- so if the cigar was an original Camacho Churchills, it's probably one that the retired Prime Minister received as a gift from the factory.

While admitting that the current Honduran blends are likely not as robust as those produced in the 1960s, I'd guess that it would be highly unlikely that Mr. Churchill, used to a steady diet of fine Cuban cigars, would have enjoyed a Camacho.

FWIW, I have enjoyed the odd Camacho myself (Camacho Havana Monarcas) but when I tried their very black maduro, the dye they used to get that very black wrapper came off all over my mouth.

That is so sad. I've heard of that happening before during the boom years, but not recently. It's like eating those red pistachios
