A Puzzle. I've got mould on my Lusi!

Advice sought again please.
Just been checking my humi and see that once again I have a small mould problem.
Had bother earlier in year with humidity which I put down to low stock affecting buffering and dodgy analogue hygrometer.
Now have digi one and humidity been staying fairly constant at around 68 to 70.. Only smoking about one a week at moment (spinning them out) so humi not opened since Saturday. On opening tonight humidity up at 73 for some reason (weather here been warmer this last few days).
Could this coupled with having resoaked reservoir and diminished numbers account for problem.
Strange thing is that although a couple of bolis had very slight mould, my ageing 1 remaining Party Lusi seemed to be quite badly affected. Why?
I have since removed these 3, cleaned them up and isolated them.
Am I going to have to check humidity levels daily till it settles again? I'd rather not if poss as too tempting.

use a black light to confirm if you can...

i believe plume reflects... mold does not...

post pics if you can...

plume rubs away quite easily and does not change the color of the cigar... mold does change it...

My brother, If we enjoy our habit then it is going to be a pain sometimes. If your reading above 65 then you need to drop the moisture. 70 being the top end 60 to me is optimum humidity for my smokes. you mite have overloaded the humidifier when you replenished it. Also your sticks most effected are probably right below your humidifier if it is attached to the lid of your humidor. The amount of sticks IMHO has nothing to do with humidity levels the humidor should stabilize itself.

If it looks like icing sugar and comes away very easily when rubbed then it's likely to be bloom (good news!! ) if it stays when rubbed and won't come off then it might be mould (bad news!! )

Send me the damaged stock, they wont get chance for the mould to spread coz i will smoke them... good luck with it again though

Apologies Tupacboy, G man & Stevieboy, you are all correct in thinking its bloom/plume. Have had cigars affected in past and, as you point out it easily wipes off and a coupla days dry hibernation has sorted it.

Was more wondering why these were apparently worst especially as the Lusi and the RC's are the largest in the box at the moment, the rest being a siglo 1, a couple of party shorts,some JLPc's & an upmanns pc. Would have expected the smaller ones to be affected first.

Thought about position too Mike but doesn't seem to be that unless unit sitting slightly off level.
Personal choice for humidity would be 65 to 70. Ideally would prefer nearer the 65 but needing to invest in couple of tubes to replace the crap system currently in use, though until this week was maintaining fairly even 68. Personally find 60 too dry for my taste.

Yes, I've had that before and ended up with small white crater like stains on the wrapper. Smoked fine still though.

Cheers Arf, done that first thing this morning to see if helps. Defo going to try & get hold of a couple of drymistat (or similar) tubes instead of current system.

Thanks also daverave999. Wondered if that may have been prob esp when it had also been considerably warmer in the room. Linking it with heat as usually not been having a prob of late, but could be some other slight anomaly, or just coincidence.

I can open and inspect once and resist but more often than that and I'd have it emptied in no time.

Hadn't had the problem but noticed the humidity spike. Was sitting at a nice 70-71 before, checked it yesterday and it was at 75!.

It is now back to 71 but it was weird.

Had mould on me own Lusi oncet, but a regimen of penicillin cleared it right up.
