My brother and I were just laughing last night about a friend of ours who lit the wrong end of a Hemingway Short Story. I guess the foot of a perfecto does look a little like the size of a cigarette. Maybe it looked more comfortable that way to him...I dunno.

      Nope! remained perfectly intact.

Just to be clear - I do not do this on a regular basis. It was a mistake that ended with favorable results.

I try to distill some wisdom and this is the thanks I get?

Lol. We're just messing with ya.

I'm going to pass this on to a buddy of mine actually. Every Short Churchy he has had goes out right around the label. Maybe flipping it around will stop that from happening?

You get me wrong Kdot...I have indeed done the same thing many years ago with a cigar that was cut inside but lit in the dark, and that little bugger unravelled. i ended up peeling the wrapper off and smoking it as the binder stayed in tact. I'll be honest its not something i really fancy repeating. But if the stogie smoked well I say carry on sir!

            Yes. Bin there. Done dat.
Lighting a cigar in a dark room after cutting and putting it down for a minute. Normally, lighting the head of a cigar will cause the wrapper to unwind because there will no longer be anything holding the wrapper to the cigar. If it unwinds, you lit the wrong end!
Be prepared for a ribbing. Protests are futile. You goofed.
If the cigar does NOT unwind, then you are obviously DOUBLY confused: you THOUGHT you lit the head by mistake but actually lit the foot.

              PS

As you sit there, puffing away, pretending that you did not light the wrong end of your cigar, watching pieces of wrapper burst into flame as they fall off your smoke, you will have an ideal opportunity to asses the contribution of the wrapper (or non-contribution in this case) to the overall taste of the cigar.
If you can properly asses anything while your friends are doubled over in laughter.

                  Strip Tease!

Well boyz, I selected a 2003 Hoyo de Monterrey Le Hoyo des Dieux for tonight's pleasure and instead of focusing on the panatella as I began to sparked it up, I found myself admiring the new lights I installed in TJ's massive new humidor.

As a consequence of my inattention, I light the wrong end!

Well, as you probably can guess, the wrapper unraveled almost immediately!!!

                  Smoked fine, however.
