Recently I have noticed some of my cigars have been burning too hot and irritating the back of my throaght. This seems to be evident on recently purchased cigars. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Cigars smoking too hot

I suppose the main two things would be storage and smoking speed. If they've been stored at too low a humidity the tobacco, being drier, will burn hotter. Then there is the issue of the speed at which you are smoking - but I suspect that's something you've thought of anyway.
If I might ask, is it a particular couple of brands? How long after buying were you smoking them?

Re: Cigars smoking too hot
It's two brands I've noticed. Hoyo de Monterrey and h upmann. To be honest I haven't let them rest long at all, about a week so maybe that's the answer. The strange thing is I'm not smoking too fast so that's not the issue.Smoke em if you've got em

overheating is obviously common with loose draw, however I find with a tighter draw you work it a lot harder and the cigar can heat up hugely and get bitter quick. also with cigars that dont give off as much smoke I often find myself taking too strong tokes to compensate
but most likely I think they need to rest a bit ^^

IMHO
Very common problem in the upper latitudes when the Gulf Stream is temporarily removed for cleaning. The solution is quite simple: send your problematical stogies to me for repair (Rokkitsci, Florida, US of byghodz A) whilst you immerse your head in a bucket of ice water to cool it down (your head, not the bucket). Wait for my reply before sending all your money. Then remove head from ice water, rinse and repeat.
